Comparing Nolan to Kubrick
its valid dudes made the biggest budget high-concept blockbusters of their era
dont know why its so appalling to compare them
Comparing Nolan to Kubrick
Lmao i dont get why half of the thread is people questioning why i compare the two
They literally both made the 2 biggest and most ambitious space related movies of their generations
Thats not by any means discrediting Kubrick, everybody knows 2001 is one of the most iconic films ever
couldnt get thru 2001. s*** is so boring
If you take your time for it and keep in mind that its slow paced you should give it another shot sometime
The last 20 mins is some of the most bonkers s*** ive ever seen in a film. Especially considering the year it came out
Theres a reason why people still heavily discuss this movie all these years later
the third(?) act with HAL taking over is perfectly done tension and suspense. and no one would guess the film is from 1968 given how incredibly the sets were built
also the influence
every space movie since and even NASA took notes
Interstellar
Lol people like interstellar? My favourite part is when he goes to meet his daughter when she’s old and she says “it’s ok to leave me you need to f*** Anne Hathaway”

2001 has been a huge inspiration in my career. My dad showed it to me when I was a teenager and it changed my whole view on aesthetics.
Damn i gotta rewatch 2001 now. I knew it was old as hell but 68? Incredible
not that old
tbh that was the line in the sand between "old" movies and modern production values we see today

True i guess in my mind it came out late 70s early 80s which 68 being not too far at all.
Interstellar since it has that simple parent and child relationship as part of the story which makes it just more emotional or relatable to people
i'm more leaning to 2001 since i watched that one in theater in 70mm couple years ago and never the same since

there were other leaps but that was the quantum one
between those two its 2001 by a long shot
though i do think its a tad overrated
solaris is the true goat space film
Disrespectful ass thread. Spitting on kubrik's grave lowkey
"Love is the most powerful resource"
“LOVE TARS LOVE”
2001 is better
Interstellar is more entertaining to watch imho but 2001 stuck with me longer
