  • so like we know trends work in like 20 year cycles right like mid 2010s was grunge aesthetics (clout goggles, flannels, ripped jeans) with the “soundcloud rap” scene to accompany it musically

We’re now sorta in this “hyperpop” moment & 00s revivalism with the fashion to go with it which is fine we all know about this what i wanna think about is what does 2010s revivialism looks like.

If someone is wearing raver pants with a small shirt & listening to ericdoa & playboi carti now is it a foregone conclusion that they will be wearing a TISA snapback by 2025? How does this permeate in music tho ? Lex Luger revival? Sampling indie music again? Dont ask me cus idk. Please lmk below !

The future is incomprehensible but hopefully this thread can do the impossible we just need a certain amount of posters to channel their energy into it at once

i think every era’s cultural aesthetics are gonna be looked on fondly as pop culture becomes more and more universal and all encompassing (and fragmented as a result.) There will always be people who are invested into every past era, whether it be ironic, traditionalist, post modernist, whatever

even today There’s a million takes on y2k, 80’s style, 70’s style, mid century, everything !! As time passes the 2010’s will join with other decades in being part of a general co-opting and reimagining of the past

This is true but I’m looking at the people at the front of the monoculture like for instance in 2011 there was pro era doing “golden era” boom bap revival s*** (1991) in 2015 it was travis, Florida scene etc doing ragey music with grunge aesthetics (ripped jeans, flannels, kurt cobain sunglasses) right now everyone wears baggy 00s era stuff & hyperpop is a thing. Someone like carti at the front of the culture typ3s l!k3 he’s in 2003 & uses production that borrows from
The synth heavy style of the time. In 2015 he borrowed from 1995. U get me?
