I don't think he has any idea what he really believes anymore. He's just a republican who gets all of his views from twitter and whatever his right wing grifter friends tell him. Completely braindead and mind melted, he doesn't resemble who he was even like legit 1-2 years ago. Kinda sad tbh because he completely burned all of the friends who were like cool spiritual hippie types he used to hang with, he really needs Duncan back to s*** on him for who he's turned into. Duncan's podcast has just always been the better JRE anyway even if Duncan is more susceptible to fake spirituality s***
also don't want to be too conspiratorial but something definitely happened with him over the past two years. this guy used to deny the moon landing and would openly question the JFK assassination narrative but recently he's been legit repeating CIA talking points. the only conspiracy he'll even consider anymore are vaccines or election fraud. it's incredibly stupid

oh yeah I agree I doubt he has a coherent political ideology, and yea I used to watch him in high school kinda stopped around last year. Duncan had that Netflix show right that animated his podcast episodes right? cause I do remember him from a Joe episode

I mean I wouldn't be surprised that if he was on some CIA payroll or any other celebrate whether they be "left" or "right" wing that tactic isn't anything new to em.

Yeah, Duncan is the guy who had that netflix show the midnight gospel. he has a podcast which was originally inspired by JRE where he talks to people about life experiences and new age spiritual type stuff. he doesn't get political very often but is more neutrally left leaning basically. he used to be best friends with Rogan but Rogan became a dumbass and really burnt him, they were best friends for years and when Duncan had his show, Joe couldn't be bothered to even watch it for what was the biggest moment in his career. Duncan confronted him on air about Joe becoming close minded a long time ago and Joe shrugged it off, it was really sad for people who had prior been friends for 10+ years.
Since then they haven't friends really or even mentioned each other. Joe hangs out with right wing grifters like Tim Pool now and Duncan is happy with his wife and kids and talks to like buddhist teachers, tech researchers, and new age spiritualist types. He's a bit more airheaded but he's more interesting and a nicer guy for sure.
With the CIA stuff I wouldn't be surprised if a certain agency helped pad out that Spotify payroll's subsidies

I think it's a mixture of him selling out for sure but I also think he does actually believe what he's saying, even if he doesn't understand most of the rhetoric he's espousing. I actually think the whole down spiral on his end really did start with him being annoyed by California politics and then annoyed with the media under Trump and thus being more receptive to opposition, which is fine by itself obviously, but this is a boomer with vague abstract views and the people around him like Pool clearly used it as an excuse to take advantage of his annoyances to push him further in a specific direction. pretty common occurrence tbh in modern political landscape, just unusual for it to happen so clearly to a celebrity

Yeah I do think that's a factor but it's kind of a vicious cycle especially if you look at the actual timeline of things. They were attacking him as far back as when the whole dumbass "IDW" thing started with Weinsteins/Peterson/etc a few years ago and he was still basically in his usual bag of faux-liberatarian/changing his views depending on the guest; if he had Tim Pool on he'd be basically a republican but if he had a LA/NY comedian on he'd suddenly be super liberal again. It's part of what made the early media stuff about him so silly. It wasn't really until this past year that he really went full idiot and then the media (which was already bloodthisty to smear him) took that as blood in the water to go full apeshit on him. I think that definitely pushed him further in that direction but it really seems that the main thing that finally broke his brain was COVID & California Politics discourse. There was a few episodes that were transitory like post-Spotify move where he would keep bringing that stuff up repeatedly even if the Guests didn't care, and I think he just kinda moved into an echo chamber more and more since moving to Spotify and that cemented views he was already sympathetic towards.

Normal people aint that set on their political views. They dont take their beliefs too seriously. Just cause he believes the democratic party is corrupt doesnt mean that he thinks the right is right.
