Yeah I promise you the majority of voters aren’t thinking about the election that strategically. People just voting based off name recognition and public speaking ability.

Bernie’s ideas aren’t considered fringe among his base, but they are still fringe ideas among a fair amount of people in the general public. Voters unfamiliar with Bernie’s ideas are going to be skeptical and if you can’t 100% sell them on it and break down how it will work in detail people aren’t going to get behind it. They’ll go for the more neutral option.

Right, and that’s a common question despite most people having no clue how money is spent in government. I’m sure Bernie had an extremely detailed plan on how to pay for things like healthcare and education, but if you can’t take those details and package it in a way that everyday moderate voters will understand and want to support than you can’t win a major election.

this is true but i’m basically saying the entirety of the burden is placed solely on bernie despite the fact other candidates can speak in platitudes or offer promises in vague ways which sort of exempt them from explaining further. it’s sort of bc bernie came with a substantive plan that it became such a focus, since other candidates could rarely measure up in their ambitions and policies.

this is of course discounting the obvious media bias which just exacerbated the narrative
