Im not sure why people still think that Bernie being outwardly hostile would have changed anything.
All that does is signal to his base, which was proven to be unreliable anyway, and pushes away any moderate support that he had. Bernie loses by even more in that scenario.

the “bernie bro” narrative was gonna be coined and used to smear regardless if he had people actually in his camp evincing that sort of rhetoric or even if his most die hard supporters were as tame as possible - democrats doubling down on the civility tactic hoping its going to translate the same come the general but that’ll remain to be seen
and as far as “insular,” it was only insular online or with a media gaze, when in reality we know that wasn’t the case for his “normal” demographic

“Bernie Bro” might have been thrown around either way, but they really played into the narrative as much as any of his opponents could have hoped.
Just seems like some of his staffing decisions were at odds with his actual messaging.
Like... You have Bernie struggling with the press the entire time, and then you have his press secretary coming out acting like an a****** and basically saying “I don’t have to pretend to want to work with you people anymore” as soon as the campaign is suspended. It’s just not a good look.
