What does bringing up the 2008 voters accomplish, other than just whataboutism? You would expect a lot of centrist Hillary supporters to go for a moderate Republican rather than someone who was running as the “big change” candidate. The PUMAs were not even that large of a group. It’s safe to say that most of the Hillary -> McCain voters did so organically because they felt best represented by him.

That is in no way comparable to “progressives” voting directly against their own interests in support of Trump, of all people, out of spite.

Truth is not all of Bernie’s supporters are diehard socialists. Millions of independents support him because Medicare for all, canceling student debt, free college, $15 an hour will greatly help them and their families.
