Liberal means progressive. That’s the definition of the word. You’re distorting definitions. The term neoliberal is linguistically derived from the market definition of liberal (liberal as in free, unregulated markets) same as libertarianism. Neoliberalism is not a term that is derived from the political definition of liberal (progressive).

Trump has one of the lowest approval ratings on record. His approval rating is consistently lower than his 2016 popular vote %. That entire gap is voters who are up for grabs and Tusli is the best Vp candidate to win them

Forget the buzzwords I misused. The point is, Tulsi is unpopular with many Democrats. Those who follow mainstream news think she is a Russian shill and Assad apologist. They are repulsed by the fact that she voted “present” on impeachment. They hate that she is willing to go on Breitbart and Tucker Carlson Tonight. They see her as a crypto-Republican. Many would hold their nose and vote for the Bernie/Tulsi ticket anyway— but not all. Bernie himself is already a thorn in the side of the Democratic establishment. Picking Tulsi is just throwing gas on the fire. Independents and Republicans flirting with voting Dem may like her foreign policy and willingness to treat them like humans, but her domestic policy is stock Democrat fare and will repulse many of them— particularly if she is second-in-command to Bernie “Abolish ICE” Sanders. Will Bernie pick up anti-Trump moderates? Sure. He needs to in order to win. But he also needs to get the Democratic base on his side and turning out to vote for him in big numbers. In my opinion, a controversial figure like Tulsi— who should be a perfect VP pick on paper— is just not the panacea to building a winning coalition and increase turnout from the Democratic base. Who is that person? I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong and Tulsi is actually the way to go. But it’s not clear cut at all.

The advantages of picking someone to Bernie's left like Tlaib is it would discourage attempts to remove him while it also satisfies the identity politics liberals are so obsessed about. The white people in the rustbelt would still like bernie.

Also helps that michigan is a swing state that we definitely need, and its lowkey cool to have a jewish/Palestinian administration

her domestic policy barely exists. she's tabula rasa. theres almost nothing for anyone to oppose. I see her picking up swing voters and I have a hard time believing a sizable portion of democratic voters will not vote just because some guys in a wine cave don't like Bernie and don't like tulsi. populism wins elections
