I need to hear Bernie hammer this clown on his previous electoral college comments tomorrow if he wants to go around calling himself the winner despite leading by no meaningful metric

Does the main presidential election use sub-delegates like the primaries do? Like how each state doesn’t go by the popular vote but by the specified delegates in each precinct?

    no

in the presidential election if you win the popular vote in a state, the electors of that state typically all vote for you

some states are a bit different (maine for instance has districts)

Assuming you’re talking about the general election, the popular vote within each state determines which candidate receives the electoral votes from a given state.

I know some of you weren't into the idea of a recanvass before, but it seems like that's the only way Bernie is going to have a chance to win the SDE now, so makes sense to do it.

Oh s***, they get the same amount of regular delegates at the convention no matter who gets more SDE? I thought the winner of that got like 1 more or something. Why does everybody give a s*** about it then

Then why tf don’t the primaries just by popular vote

If it shows which candidate would get the most votes then doing these delegates make absolutely no sense

Also, I know Pete seems like a threat to some Bernie supporters rn, but he's not at all. The only thing that could be slightly threatening is he's doing decent in NH polls right now, but I still think it would take a HUGE upset for him to beat Bernie there.

Besides NH, Pete is a total non-threat. He does not have a viable coalition outside of small, high income, highly educated, white people states. He has such a minute chance of winning the nomination.

The big thing in NH is for Warren to place 3rd or much more preferably 4th, so that she drops out. If she's gone by Nevada Bernie's chances sky rocket, especially with all the moderates still left in.

Given how well he did in iowa among all the white people there I'd be nervous. He overperformed by 10 points

  • just imagine how bad it is when even the NY Times guy is saying this.
