I understand. My take is Bernie who won rural Iowa when HRC was sweeping the cities is now losing in those parts to moderates. That pattern continued in N.H.

Bernie can still win rural areas. But far more than in 2016, he shows signs of becoming an urban juggernaut—especially in diverse, working-class neighborhoods.

    The link has a paywall

But I get what you’re saying, and if the numbers so far reflect that then that’s a good look for him. In other news, Bloomberg is now in 3rd nationally.

if bloomberg comes even close to sanders in the primary, i'll become a communist and donate to the PSL

    it ain't happening

Bloomberg is about to pull a dark horse and absorb the votes of every moderate in the race simply by outlasting them until they all drop out. He’s already polling 3rd nationally and he can’t wait for Biden to drop out which might happen after Super Tuesday. He’s being extremely calculated about this

He’s also lined up to kill it with super delegates. I think his strategy will be to keep anyone from getting a majority during the primary and then getting the nomination from super delegates during the second round of voting at the convention. Pretty solid strategy tbh

I haven’t seen the media act like he didn’t win but I don’t really watch the news lol, doesn’t surprise me though. But yeah if you combine all of Bernie and Warren/Yang/Tulsi votes, it would total to around 43%, while Pete/Klob/Biden total to 55%. Obviously it wouldn’t shake out just like that. But if Pete and Klob starts losing steam (I think he will), Biden will likely grab all of that support. And Biden will likely start to regain momentum as some of these next states he’s better positioned to do well.

The problem with adding up the 4 candidates who are moderates votes and juxtaposing it against liberals is illogical.

People don’t vote purely off substance and issues — why is Bernie leading as Biden supporters 2nd choice?

In reality, voters vote based on character characteristics, who they think is more electable, etc.

Even for the issue based voters, they may not agree with every single moderate position or every single liberal position.

Lumping candidates together is fair, as candidates are fairly easily grouped, but to lump them together and say that voters all vote for the same reason — or that going to vote for a certain candidate just because they’re moderate is an incorrect narrative.

I urge you to fight back against this narrative spun by media outlets by not repeating the narrative and by speaking out when someone does. It is completely false and misconstrued.

I think Biden has two big reasons for his support, and his support can be split up by each reason.

First is name recognition. The average person is uninformed and when asked by polls they’ll say the name they know most about, in this case Biden. These voters likely say Sanders is their second option for the same reason. This probably makes up more than half of his support and is the reason he’s underperforming, because these voters aren’t likely to actually rush out and vote.

The other reason is political philosophy, and I imagine most of these voters would be switching to Klob/Bloomberg/Pete before Bernie. Maybe somebody can find stats on who Biden supporters went to in the Iowa caucus when he was unviable?

Also, I don’t think Pete or Klob would benefit as much from Biden dropping as Biden would benefit from them dropping.
