Actually since the US is a much bigger country it also has more bargaining power so I wouldn't be surprised if using Canada's system they ended up paying less per capita than Canada. But yes, the US could definitely use the same system and benefit a lot from it.

The US population has just been brainwashed into throwing up whenever they hear the word taxes but they pay more than they would if all they had was taxes and no insurance to pay.

It's simple. In Canada we currently pay a little under 5k per capita on healthcare, it's around 10.5k in the US, all in USD by the way. In 2017 the US spent over 800B just in paperwork, 4x what Canada would've spent if it had as many citizen. It's just clear that a lot of that money goes into useless office jobs and the whole system is corrupted.
