What I'm saying is that it's not that foreign of a concept. It would barely be different and imo it's just logical. He's not a moderate but he's not a socialist either. He's simply on the left.
I used to think he wasn’t really a socialist either too until I actually compared his plans with that of other countries. He wants to give 20% of shares in large and all public companies to workers. On top of that 45% of board members are to be elected by the workers. Add that to the 20% of 55% And that’ll be over 50% total control by employees. The workers would have the first rights to buy any company or factory getting closed down, and there would be a large government fund for the purpose of transferring money for worker cooperatives. Then there’s the green new deal that would nationalize energy and major transportation. His internet for all would mostly nationalize the internet too (or at least heavily regulate it). It’s estimated that under his plans 30-40% of the economy would be under government control, which is similar to current communist party run China. He is a socialist, he just points to countries like Denmark and Sweden because they seem less scary to voters than actual socialist countries

I agree with most of it though. I don't know how much of the economy I believe the government should have control of but it's every service that is pretty much a necessity nowadays. Energy, internet, major transportation, water, healthcare, etc. Without regulations internet will be controlled by ISPs, you don't want that.
And maybe his business ideas would work too, I'd be down to try those.

I’m not saying his plans are good or bad (although since I’m voting for him, I guess you could say I have no problems with them). What I’m saying is they’re different. It wouldn’t be standard to do all of this combined in any western country

I agree, I think his workers s*** is outlandish af and would be hard to get done but everything else would pass in any self respecting country where the average IQ is above 80.

Why is it outlandish lmao
Why is it outlandish lmao
It's a synonym for foreign, unconventional, weird, unusual, unorthodox, etc. What's so difficult to understand? Sounds about right to me.
i bet even some of the people itt could do a better job than the current campaign strategists lol
Read that his strategists has had a hard time trying to get Bernie to attack rather than to counterpunch cuz that’s what he’s comfortable with. He’s simply too naive sometimes.
imagine thinking setting aside a stock percentage for workers is socialism
why do people not understand that socialism means proletarian rule, every time, without exception
If yall are referring to worker on boards policy just a reminder germany has that but i think bernies increases the % by 15 or 10

Germany’s is 1/3 or 33%. Bernie’s is 45%, plus the 11% that would be under the control of the workers fund
Imagine thinking increasing worker participation to a level not seen in any other western nation isn’t an indicator of socialism, but you think modern China, with its actual billionaire class, with a higher income inequality than Nordic countries, with its reduced welfare since the 70s, is still a socialist state. Just stop posting

Shoutout to u for knowing the policy extremely well, it’s enlightening
But still whats the problem?
Yea eu, canada and Australia/nz are the standard but tht dsnt mean
inequality dsnt exist over there still
More can still always be done
For instance here in canada medicare doesnt cover medication, keep in mind d**** here are still EXPONENTIALLY, like wayy cheaper than the states, however th major policy of the third biggest/social Democratic Party here was a nationalized pharmacare program. And it became so popular the liberal party/party in govt atm we’re considering it
The point is progress can always be made in social democracy
Idk if i agree w yr point that bernie is
More than a social democrat there are ranges, each country/party is different
But overall bernie, jagmeet singh, corbyn etc are all in the same vein of policy

I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t say I know it “extremely” well, I just started heavily researching it like a couple weeks ago lol
Also don’t really have a problem with the workers participation, makes sense to me
But yeah, basically my point was that it’s disingenuous to claim that Bernie’s policy would be normal in Europe or something because he’s going above and beyond. And my earlier posts don’t even cover his federal jobs guarantee or national rent control. The danish government would have a problem with him raising the corporate tax rate too. I just hope he can get this done so that if it’s a success then it’ll prove that we could achieve much greater than we have now and if it’s a failure then we can be done with socialism forever
This 55 yr old black dude in Atlanta I was talking to was anti-Bernie. He was saying all this dumb s*** about how socialism will never work bc people dont like it, actually the exit polls of a lot of states says socialism is higher than 50%, how Bernie needs to control his followers, i literally said its twitter people talk dumb s*** online but it doesnt matter. He goes “Bernie needs to do more about it” I tell him “He literally condemned it what else can he do” “Uh He needs to implement a policy” “So you want him to censor the speech of strangers online? It’s going to be him literally censoring Free Speech.” Then he pivoted to some other point about how nothing he says can get passed and Im like it sets precedent which he didnt get. Thank god for the Bernie supporters that was in the store bc f*** this dude was so ignorant about Bernie. He was f***ing Lib-Pilled

Yea i used to be one of those bernie woild be center people lmaoo tbh hut yea i think he’d be solidly left.
EU is weird because they’re societies are wayyy skewed left while ours are way skewed right
Countries like netherlands, france, germany etc always come up but merkel and macron belong to centrist parties. Rutte from netherlands party is actually center right. Boris Johnson etc
Im not even sure how many labour/soc dem prime ministers there are. Certainly none of the big economies
But yet they have all these generous social safety nets and the like so it’s a weird dichotomy
Another thing i think is that their politics are less polarized and overall more evolved
US is having debates about healthcare and education being human rights meanwhile over there their elections usually focus on globalization issues like climate change and the migrant crisis so that just makes the linear comparison harder

southern middle aged black folks are some of the worst and most confusing voting demographic

I think the real “they would be center in europe” would be people like Kamala and pete. I know Kamala put a lot of niggas in jail, but looking the actual policies she ran on, she was farther left than joe Biden at least. He would be center right if anybody

Bernie's team knew exactly what they were doing when they started organizing in Latino communities years ago. Whites and Latinos really about to save us from old Black voters cause they a lost cause.
@Cudderwalks lets add a snake emoji to warren in the op
nah still fw her policies
