but i guess obama proved to us people will vote for a minority or the disenfranchised simply as a token so that they can pat themselves on the back and think simply the fact -he’s black, she’s a woman, etc- the problem is automatically fixed(obviously this is not to say the alternatives to obama were better lol but just a comment on how weaponized this identity s*** is and how ppl don’t care about getting actual change done, just the appearance of so)
I'm semi-optimistic about AOC & others in the future, but we still have a long way to go to get away from identity politics
