was also the street rap wave of these boring ass beats, the rappers yes were good and they had great melodies but their beats and creative vision was so boring

Yet according to hip hop the world is all about ass, t***, d**** and money still. It's a big ole party! S*** is OUTRAGEOUS. Where are the leaders? This the same genre that brought you "Fight The Power", "Fuck The Police", "The Message", "White Manz World", "Brenda's Got A Baby" etc...

Where is this generations Ice Cube? Pac? Nas? Where is this gens prime Kanye coming from? If the music was good at least--but we're more than halfway through the decade and we've got MAYBE 3-4 classic records this decade. It's dire man. The rappers at the top been driving the genre to the ground for the last 10 years and now here we are--at the point where fans of the genre say anything not about b****es or "bumping in the whip" is "scare the hoes music". Before catering to women was a negative, you'd get dissed if that was the case ("99% of your fans wear high heels"). Now its a genre of streamers and lames. And if you disagree, then you are part of the problem and not really a rap fan in the first place. "Why another god damn dance track gotta hurt"

My own take is that the 80's has higher highs as far as classics/masterpieces but the 20's has more variety and a higher number of good/great albums.

But it's apples and oranges because hip hop has grown way more as a genre and the Internet allows for more accessibility.

I'm saying that the 80's produced higher tier classics but, because of how much hip hop has grown as a genre, we now have more rappers, more rap albums, and more ways to discover a variety of good music.

I do prefer previous decades of hip hop barring maybe the 80's to 20's hip hop, especially when it comes to mainstream output.

But there's still been a lot of great projects this decade. Here's a topster of a sample of good albums from this decade.

for people that are into projects with rapping, lyricism, substance etc. i made this for yall

heres 66 albums of a that prioritize technical rapping and/or subject matter from the past 5 years, the majority generally seen as great and even if you dont find them great you can take some great moments of rapping and/or clear obvious substance. i can think of many more too this is conservative

id argue the peaks of rapping and writing in the 20s that are much more visible than before are honestly really really nuts

i also made around 20 of these 2025 and 2024

Sure u got some amazing artists like osamason, che, lucy, jane, but overall its ass

thats 21 people named already in the ug (depends how many here u count as ug tho ig) and unlike other eras these guys are all known for being unique. a lot of them are skilled writers, a lot are self prods, alot have their distinct sounds and rap styles even if u dont like them
