yea was in Niigata for a weekend on a business trip. went to some very cool mountain city in the winter, it was beautiful
favorite place I've been in Japan was Naoshima, definitely check that out if you can. Nikko was breathtaking in the fall too

Yeah I lived like 10~min from Nagoya station for a year, favorite spots around there were Ise-Jingu in Mie, Tokoname, ect.
Hope to venture more around the Kansai area (and Tohoku since I'll be living there) when I go back.
