Depends on your pov, as someone from music academia, I dont think music being dissected in academic spaces by hands that dont know s*** about the music is a net positive at all (e.g. what happened to jazz)
But that’s a whole nother thread.
And also it is strange until u remember the ppl that run it look like ⚪️

It was the Grammy/being on that album, and then dropping these changes and Drunk. I noticed a lotttt of people getting hip to him around that time.

Yup. And until something more cultural that's not named the BET Awards replaces it, we stuck with it and might as well make the best of it

Winning a grammy doesn’t…change that though? That’s a societal issue altogether.

AOTY is a step into academic acknowledgment. Whatever your views of academic acknowledgment are, that’s separate
