Weird album. Em is operating at a crazy high level but his music is better when you’re immature

You're going to call me crazy for saying this and I won't blame you.

But, in a way, MMLP reminds me of TLOP's initial concept which was the internal struggle between the multiple "Pablos" and how they all co-exist in the life of Kanye West.

MMLP is sort of like that for me. It's an album that showcases the internal struggle between Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady and both albums talk about how fame and wealth have both been a curse and a blessing to their lives. And you have a mix of serious/introspective songs alongside gimmicky/edgy ones.

I can see what you mean in a sense but id almost make a MBDTF comparison before that one just because for me the album is about the circumstance

I don’t take MMLP as a concept album but as a snapshot of a real time moment of a man in a really unique circumstance. And really using his skills as a writer and confrontational artist to give a picture of everything in that moment. It can almost feel like some kind of fictional thing it’s hard to explain but the album feels very real but also so heightened. The whole “controversy” that he’s reacting to and doubling down on on the album has this strange feeling, like this s*** was important at one time and the world was actually going crazy about this guy. Him dealing with that is just compelling in a real lightning in a bottle way

It is hard to make comparisons to Ye just because the writing and lyrics isn’t as much of a focus for him, and I lowkey think the TLOP concept theories are a little bit overblown but that’s another convo. If Ye was a better rapper he would probably make something like MMLP lyrically, I bring up MBDTF because that was Ye’s back against the wall moment where he was kind of addressing stuff and firing back and working on a high level in the moment
