people tired of the satanic pop and rap scene. All that mockery of Jesus, glorify of d**** and s***is lame
Culturally there is a shift going on with conservative ideas leaking into pop culture which leads to songs like this to rise up the charts.
Also the first song was probably made to drum up controversy anyway.
It couldn’t be more obvious
Like Madonna in the ‘90s
the chart position might be higher but Luke Combs cover def. won't be as big as the original, probably one of the more iconic songs from its time period that everyone alive in that era recognizes
and tracy chapman will end up making millions off the success anyway

That satanic s*** wasn’t even close to this popular lmao

Tracy could do a tour rn just off this lol
The Luke Combs track is only concerning as a part of the trend imo, pretty inoffensive as it is and at least Tracy’s getting the bag on a classic
Morgan’s a piece of s*** obviously, but the song itself is mid and the concerning part is really just how much American country fans are willing to drive absolute mid to 14 weeks at the top as long as they feel like they’re “fighting back against cancel culture.” Which…
Jason’s song genuinely concerns me. I called this out in another thread, but this guy’s biggest song to this point was a Ludacris collab 10 years ago. In a decade, the cynical country music hit formula path went from a s***ty rap song but nonetheless a song that was clearly inspired by black culture to this dog whistling sundown town mess of a track. That’s the mainstream path to a hit now in that genre. It’s disturbing and I don’t want to see what comes next if we let this slide.

Trump didn't try this in a small town
Getting cucked by Trump. Just gotta end it all tbh

Don’t even bury me lmao would rather just better thrown n the garbage disposal

dont think you can call Last Night a hit just because people think theyre fighting against cancel culture, its pretty much the definition of an organic crossover smash hit
and for the aldean thing i dont think there's anything we can do to not "let this slide" honestly, not like we can control the country fans and they have more pressure over the country/radio establishment then the outsiders do obv. i definitely forsee some more MAGA anthems designed to brew up controversy coming up and charting as the election approaches

I think it’s a fair distinction that Morgan is currently the only country artist on a run like this that could crossover in such a way, but I also maintain that he wouldn’t be as big as he is without his actions confirming him as a “good ol boy” in their eyes. That’s subjective, but I’ve heard plenty of midwestern white people say it as plainly as that.
You’re unfortunately right about not being able to do anything about Aldean. It’s just deeply f***ing depressing to see racially charged stochastic terrorism lyrics debuting at #2 on billboard like this.
OP talking about dog whistles and then does an elastic man stretch on the last song
These things always swing back and forth like a pendulum
You’d have to have worms for brains not to predict this happening after the last decade or so of placing more and more value on immutable traits and the color of your skin
We need Frank Ocean and Kanye to save music ASAP
they dont make hits

yea nah last night isn't just appealing to maga types lol and Morgan at least acknowledged what he did was wrong.
if anything the only real racial controversy here is that Jason dude and s***s lowkey disturbing how racist that song is
