I've been listening to hip-hop for well over a decade now. I've listened to hundreds and maybe thousands of artists and an innumerable number of songs. I don't think I can name a song better than Marcy Me. At 50 years old he's displaying one of the greatest flows ever. The way he finds different pockets and effortlessly strings together syllables is incredible. The wordplay is endless with the third verse being in the conversation for his greatest verse ever. The beat is gorgeous and No ID provided a beautiful backdrop for Hov that pulls on your heart strings. The Dream at the end provides a gorgeous end to the song. There's arguments for Juicy, Jesus Walks, Dear Mama, The Message, It Was a Good Day, NY State of Mind, Nothin' But a G Thang, CREAM, etc but to me none of them match up to this. If anyone has alternatives please share but I don't think anything is as good as this song right here.
EDIT: I know someone's gonna come in here 100 Gecs or Die Very Rough or @ MEH but really nothing I can't think of another song that can compare to this and I've been thinking about it for about a year now
one of the best beats ever
This whole time the best producer for Jay was No ID who knew
Great song. I personally think Smile is the best song on the album
This
But the opening wordplay and flow on here is elite too
Mathematics by Mos Def for me, but this song gonna age beautifully
I feel like for as high regard as that whole album is held it's not appreciated enough. Mathematics definitely up there for me

Almost every song on 4:44 has an argument to be best on the album aside from like Bam and Family Feud personally

How much of biggies rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips
Bam is such an instant skip for me lol
It's a good song but in the context of an album of actual 10/10 songs it feels weird
does listening to hip hop since 2010 make you credible
top tier song nonetheless

WELL over a decade. First song I loved Hard Knock Life but I was like 3, first song that made me take music seriously and actually think about it was Through the Wire. I downloaded Purple Haze off Limewire
