one of the biggest drivers of school shootings is centralized information which has resulted in social stratification. the antidepressants thing is different.

first off, regarding school shootings, the issue is that social lives are omnipresent in youth, regardless of where they are. kids who are f***ed up are constantly reminded on social media everyone is have s***or having fun except them (regardless of if its true), and most of these kids who are doing school shootings come from estranged families to begin with, where they aren't well adapted. it's easier to find extremist content online now because the internet is centralized. when stuff was decentralized, there wasn't just one outlet everyone participated on; hence the average person was not exposed to as much content unless they were already actively seeking it out prior. it's why it wasn't as much of a problem. now you just go on twitter and type whatever you want into the search bar and instantly find a community of likeminded people, or you stumble across it accidentally because everyone uses the same few sites. everyone from the literal nazis to the average 60 year old boomer to hardcore communists. others are free to see these communications and spread them because everything is public. this leads to further radicalization, because it's not just people inhaling information, it's people who actively see the actions and thoughts of all other people they agree and disagree with, which leads to further radicalization, especially since algorithms prioritize showing you stuff which will piss you off. imagine you're a socially ed 16 year old and you keep seeing on IG everyone's getting laid or drinking at parties except you, and you go on twitter and some f***tard tells you "well it's because you were born inferior". you have access to both of these outlets in literally seconds, mere keystorkes, of each other. and you're constnatly exposed to these colliding viewpoints 24/7 because a lot of exterior social activities have faded because of the internet for many people. para-socialization is increasingly popular which leads not only to isolation but to unhealthy levels of exposure to dnagerous social ideas.

regarding anti-depressants, it is undeniable that kids in the US are over-prescribed anti-depressants. no, this does not mean every kid who takes anti-depressants is violent. that's not what i'm saying. the fact is that these medications severely impact behavior; if you don't actually need them but get them prescribed, they f*** you up. failed education & healthcare systems have resulted in them being handed out like candy.

    apa.org/monitor/2017/11/numbers

as of 2017, it was more than 1 in 10 kids 12+ being on anti-depressants. does that sound normal to you? that's an increase of almost 70% since 2000.

furthermore, this isn't some conspiracy theory, nor is this saying that d**** cause people to shoot up schools. it's that giving psychiatric d**** to kids who don't need them f***s them up both emotionally and developmentally, and combined alongside para-social phenomenon. there is actual research on this.

    baumhedlundlaw.com/medication-induced-violence/school-shootings-prescription-drugs

I am not saying that everyone who takes psychiatric medication is a ticking time bomb nor that being the intent of the medication. but i don't understand how anyone can say that it's developmentally healthy for people to be clearly overprescribed medication. if you don't actually need it, and you get prescribed it, it f***s you up. take this alongside social phenomena, and you have a very bad situation.

If it was more regulated buzz-words like "loser" and "alt-right" wouldn't have become a real thing. I'm all for an authoritarian internet, there is so much s*** going on online and it's becoming a false-reality because people can't seperate it from digital to real life. Seriously. I fear for the future.

Dude I've been on antidepressants for like 14 years. They don't cause any sort of behavior like that unless someone has underlying mood problems (bipolar) they can make someone manic who has never been diagnosed as bipolar before but they don't cause dangerous behavior like people try to say. Fact is, usually people who do these violent crimes happen to be on antidepressants (usually because they are prescribed by a doctor due to being worried about them) but they aren't the cause of the behavior. Anyone who says that has no idea how SSRI's or SNRI's work because they are the most mild medications in terms of how they work. Someone who takes Adderall is way more dangerous.

as i said in the post i am not saying that SSRIs make everyone walking violent pyschopaths. i'm saying that them being overprescribed to people who are already f***ed up - and then radicalized separately - is an intersecting problem

I somewhat agree with that. I was not aware that kids are prescribed anti-depressants like that, and it does not surprise me seeing how f***ed up the humor of Generation Z is

it's hard to discuss imo because it's an actual problem, but because there are conspiracy theorists who hold more extreme views on the same issue, it's kind of diluted discussion about something which is separately a big issue.
i'm not trying to make some grand conspiracy theory about big pharma poisoning the youth, or that d**** are causing people to do things, only that overprescription is a result of educational & healthcare failures, and it's intersected with a lot of other cultural issues
