only heard townes van zandt and folsom but i've been meaning to peep lucinda
Lucinda is crazy good man. you can't go wrong with the album listed in OP, her self-titled from 88, and Sweet Old World. it's just top-tier songwriting
was seriously considering putting this on here, but i get more pop/soul vibes more than anything. amazing album nonetheless, my grandma put me on to it as a kid
im a huge ray charles fan but i never loved this album that much. i think i just prefer him without the big arrangements

yeah it’s definitely more of a soulful album with hints of country here & there, it was just his take on it & i love it because of that
i just wanted 2 post it in case any1 has never heard it, amazing album

that’s fair. i get so much nostalgia listening 2 it so maybe that’s why i adore it as much as i so, i still think it’s amazing.
best willie album imo:
I came in this thread open minded but some of these songs sound like parodies
More so talking about the recent ones obviously

yeah bruh if anybody hasn't heard Ray Charles, they're missing out big time. admittedly Genius Loves Company was the first album i heard from him, but that album was relatively big when it dropped (i think it came out after he died?)
@op you heard 2022 AOTY?
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw7Q19mtly0my best friend loves him lol

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw7Q19mtly0no i havent i've never heard of this guy tbh
Like what you like people
I love Kacey Musgraves not sure if that counts
Kacey was a gateway for a lot of people to get into country music, i dont see how it wouldn't count
Country isn’t an albums genre
Of course it is.
I mean, yeah, some of the greatest country songs are just 45s by some nobody on some indie label. But you can't deny the greatness of albums like "The Streets of Baltimore" or Tom T. Hall's first records.
love him sm
love this album man. Lungs is Townes' best song imo
This album is a masterpiece
I like Juarez better, I think.
you think so? i dont feel that way tbh
just because of how massive the genre is there are a lot of amazing albums and periods where it was more of an albums genre. but I think most of the GOATs are defined more by their hit singles than their albums. 70s probably the best period for country albums
like a list of country goats or highest selling artists. willie nelson, waylon jennings, johnny cash, george strait, dolly parton, loretta lynn, alan jackson, tim mcgraw, garth brooks, reba mcentire. With almost all these artists you'd miss out a lot by checking out a few albums instead of listening to all their major hits when first getting into them
Speaking of soulful country...
One of the best records ever, Sly said Jim was the baddest white man in music.
no i havent i've never heard of this guy tbh
i think hes becoming one of the biggest country artists, that album is the highest selling country album released in 2022. its long af but i think its consistent and just a really good blend of different country styles on a bit more of the americana and singer-songwriter side
you f*** with Tyler Childers?
