can you explain to me what this means or what it’s supposed to show, i’m intrigued by it but need a little more education

    Maslow's hierarchy of needs

basically you can only really worry about certain s*** once your basal needs are met

so ya you can be sad, but if you don't know where your next meal is coming from that might take a higher priority

(not saying people of lower income levels cant be depressed tho)

    Imagine being outraged by this

  • Jan 12, 2023

    He’s not saying anything crazy

I get what he means. He basically saying the type of depression where u can just lay around the crib and do nothing is a luxury. Most folks gotta bottle things up and go to work

  • Jan 12, 2023

I understand what he is saying but I think he is wording it in a very weird way.

  • Jan 12, 2023

As someone with depression he’s real af

  • Jan 12, 2023

i think he's misinterpreting the feeling of being overly sad vs. clinical depression. 2 very different things

You can be depressed and still broke and have to work all day

Depressed people aren’t just people sitting around all day thinking about depression. They’re in school, they’re at work, etc.

    Yep. I'm at work, depressed.

  • Jan 12, 2023

  • I get what he's saying, and it's real but the wording is kinda funny. You can still be depressed while being functional because it's your livelihood on the line all the time.

He's phrasing it in a clickbait way but I don't see how anyone could argue against what he's actually saying

Like dropping everything because of mental health issues isn't an option if you're living paycheck to paycheck, you'll ruin your entire life, that itself is a sad indictment of how poverty and mental health intersect

It is an option that does happen to many poor people, which is why a majority of homeless people in the US are people who suffer from mental illness.

Being equipped with the knowledge, self awareness and resources to pinpoint and address depression is a luxury. Everyone experiences depression whether they're able to label it or not.

The luxury is having a crib to lay up in, depression is not a luxury

If we started talking about it maybe the hood could actually get better.

If we started looking at homicidal tendencies/anger the way we look at suicidal tendencies, then maybe the hood could get better.

Killing a nigga and not feeling a thing about it/smoking pack is not a legit mentally sane thing to do if you take step back and look at it. All these drill kids is mentally ill (but hot take, I think every African American in this country's environment NO MATTER what class you was born in has some form of a mental illness of varying degrees of course)

That's why you gotta appreciate niggas like G Herbo trying to uplift black men with that mental health program he launched.

Yup that’s basically ripping the humanity out of you
