we don’t get moments like this anymore
Iconic. I remember watching this live and you could just tell the tide was changing in hip hop after this very moment. Great show and era for real
At the time, I was a fan of both rappers and I listened to Grad's singles and the album more but I still enjoyed half the songs on Curtis(while not caring for the other half).
I remember being equally addicted to Flashing Lights and I Get Money. When my dad would pick me up from school, he would sometimes turn on Hot 97 and even he'd get hype when both songs would play on the radio. Especially I Get Money.
Obviously, Graduation stood the test of time far more and is basically a multi-generational classic that even Gen Z f***s with while Curtis is a semi-forgotten relic that's only known for 2 songs these days.
Curtis still sold very well internationally though funnily enough.
World needs something like this again with Drake in the 50 role vs a new-ish name
My mom bought Graduation when it dropped
I brought the CD to school and somebody stole the poster that came with it
That’s what my dumbass get smh
Back in the day we did a secret Santa type thing at school and this girl got me Curtis from Walmart, she was a good friend of mine
Came with a DVD that had extra content lol
Had to let her know “Aye thank you but we rockin with Ye on this side” lmao pretty sure I explained the story behind sales battle too, yea I was on some other s*** lol
Graduation wouldn’t have don’t s*** against massacre or grodt
well good thing massacre and GRODT are not the albums we’re talkin about is it?
i remember my dad picked me up on the weekend these albums dropped and we ran grad all the thru he had to run back good morning like 3 times
Forcing people to look at an aesthetic anime gif moodboard while they listen to your album is Kid Cudi tier ngl. Maybe 50 should've won
Ye felt so current but yet,so futuristic during that era. 50 was beginning to go through the motions and become the 50 Cent you see today. Ye was just coming with something completely different, and it happened to be what people wanted
