Can someone explain the whole situation in simple terms for me? I’m confused
In nigeria theres something know as the
Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) pretty much supposed to do what its name states. Protect people from robberies and all that, they're pretty much the police
But nigeria is super corrupt, so it's pretty much the same as here where these officers abuse their power, beaten civilians, force them to withdraw money out the bank for them, kill them, etc
Last night I think they killed 12 people in Lagos after peaceful protests

nigerian government/police killing and torturing their own people for speaking out about police brutality. it's more complicated than that but basically yeah. and it's being broadcasted publicly. depressing all around

this is a tweet from his girlfriend. she found out about his death by seeing his body on her timeline.
this is happening all over nigeria
This is what ur tryna turn this thread to ?
As if nigerians weren't here marching against police brutality
They didn’t care when it was us.
There’s a spiritual battle that’s taking place here. War of the Aboriginal Americans, African Americans, Black Europeans, West/South Africans vs the world. Until those that are being killed unite together, they’ll continue to suffer.

@youngtubesteak
Honestly, when the police here would act out, I didn’t see Nigerians nor talk with them about the police brutality. During that time, I was around em. Now when it’s in their land (understandable) they’re bringing awareness.
Not to say their support for us doesn’t exist but in my area, I simply haven’t seen it.
My main point was and still is:
It’s unfortunate because it’s not like here where it’s racist cops. It’s their own kin smh.
Their issue is power where as ours is systemic genocide

did this person die?
I'll be honest I'm just not a fan of these black American artists using Africa as a marketing venue then going relatively silent when the people ask for support.
Like now she made a post, but the other day Tina was going off on ig saying Bey was "quietly vetting, researching, and supporting" organizations when in reality these protests only popped off a couple weeks ago and there's only like 2-3 organizations accepting money right now...all the people wanted was some support and awareness from a person who has huge international reach, and just released a whole movie centered around their continent.. like if she was doing all this researching and vetting, why did a post about this only come out after she was getting backlash, Solange BEEN posting about this too.. All this quiet "support from the shadows" activism is weird b.. especially when there's people dying.
holy f***, rip
