Sometimes I don’t get it with you guys. Any time someone mentions Travis being in their top whatever, it’s mostly based on production. Like yeah his bars are dumb a majority of the time, but people like him, Pharrell , and Kanye help shape the way the beats and sounds communicate the art. Plus all of these opinions are so subjective...if you like explicitly lyrical guys then ofc you don’t think Travis Scott makes the cut, but what about people who make beats? Their top 5 is probably a lot more critical on sound production and creativity when it comes to using the tech

I fw Pharrell but I don't see anybody putting him in their top 5 rappers Kanye gets a pass because like it or not every album he has something new to say along with a new style of production

But this still applies solely to YOUR top caliber in hip hop. Some people don’t care about what they say, just what it sounds like. I have friends who fw Travis super heavy Bc they make beats. His lyrics are laughable but what he chops up is arguably the best production in the game rn

that's fine but there's still going to be a general consensus on top tier rappers (Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, etc) and I personally haven't seen many people put rappers there because of their production
