Thought this was really dope. I think the 3rd act and overall message could of landed a little better but I really enjoyed it
I haven’t read reviews yet but I’m guessing ppl hate it because all the men in this movie are bad guys
Finally caught this at my local indie theatre and damn the last 20 minutes are something else. It had me and my gf squirming a bit
Personally I loved it, such a surreal film.
Annihilation might be his best movie and he didn't write that stuff. It's not exactly like the book though. Idk, I don't think Men is bad but it does feel like less than the sum of its parts and is already missing that something extra. Hope he rebounds
Ex Machina is incredibly overhyped but Annihilation one of my fav films of the 10s

Real tbh. Ex Machina is rly beautifully crafted sci-fi but ya so is Annihilation while being so much more ambitious and interesting, rly underrated in comparison. And the sound is incredible, def one of my faves of the 10s as well.
Devs (his miniseries) is also rly ambitious, a bit more messy than Annihilation but also prefer that to Ex Machina.

Lighthouse sequence and the music solidified it for me. Can’t think of many films that spooked me so much. And that’s mostly bc of the actual alien sounding sound design

I wish it was scarier
I still haven't seen this because I'm almost purposely late to things but do they explain why homeboy looks like so waxy and greasy

he's a man
As an Alex Garland stan... meh.
right?? was pretty disappointed especially considering how solid Ex Machina and Annihilation are
need to go back to this but i remember being high af in the theater being entranced by all the nature shots
Finally caught this last night since it’s on Max. That whole last 40 minutes left me so insanely perplexed idk if I even enjoyed it. At a certain point it felt like extended montages with just the score and flashes to shots of her looking scared over and over and over for literally 30-40 minutes. The movies is only 100 minutes but that last bit felt so long and I just kept saying wtf hoping the pay off was worth it which it kinda wasn’t.
Im assuming we’re not to be taking anything that happened literally but I’ll be honest and say I don’t think I quite understood what was going on. I have some ideas of what represents what but the anti climax of the ending/ ambiguity didn’t really help my feeling underwhelmed by it which sucks
Maybe I’ll catch it again with knowledge of the full thing in mind so I can focus on other aspects but at this time idk if it’s worth it. I feel like I’ve seen what this has to offer already. Super pretty movie tho, the shots of her in the apartment and in the garden/ forest are beautiful

men who don’t understand women’s trauma to a degree don’t realize the world can feel like that to a lot of them tbh
