"that's why I feel like a lot of rich people buy art and clothes and s*** because like you can buy into somebody's sauce it's like I'm going get this George Condo because like he put his soul on a canvas and I lost mine so like I can hang somebody else's"
I know this aint new territory for a lot of newly rich celebs to (after) being poor and getting rich, to come back down to tell us how it's not all it is cracked up to be but I liked the way Ferg described it, especially giving his family background in fashion/designer.
It also kinda made me understand why some artists that we always talk about "falling off" on here or they not as popular as they used to be, most times is that an intentional decision to make?
idk, I been on a pensive mood cause music this year has been feeling kinda...more like a job instead of a passion and that's been one of THE biggest dampers ever. and it makes me wonder what is the end goal of it all?
idk, what yall niggas think?
@AmoryBlain @browser @hadjigaviota @Mitchell think yall might dig this interview
idk, rich person saying rich people stink does not sit too right with me, but w/e I like Ferg, and he is not necessarily wrong.

There's definitely a key difference between a newly rich person and a person that was born into money.
As someone that went to a PWI on a scholarship, I saw it all the time with white freshmen classmates that always talked about taking drives in these expensive ass cars but had the personality of a cardboard box.
but like yeah if a willow or jaden smith said this exact same s*** I wouldn't have even made this thread lmao

Its a lot of ways to look at it. I sometimes think this way about money and life in general but the contrast is everything we hate about being broke
Lol
I kinda feel excess and being aimless and famous is what drives the contrast of how someone like Ye or Puff ended up vs someone like Hov lol

Well because there’s that middle ground (that I think a lot of artists that aint superstars but were bubbling have found that we just say “fell off” but they might be ideal) where you have the money but not necessarily the fame.
I get the Rock and even Hov’s POV but believe me it would depress the s*** out of me to not be able to go to my fav gardens or walk through my fav parks anymore if hypothetically a nigga was to get that famous.
I always think of that one Spongebob episode
Like (and even when I was younger) watching mtv cribs I always thought “yo this looks like it would be annoying as hell to clean up.”
That kendrick clip is hilarious cause cali niggas dont have open fire hydrants lmao
If you don’t know how to cope with boredom in 2024 you will live in misery
I feel like being bored is a super privilege. I haven’t been bored since I was in high school

Ferg dad was a label dude tho, I think he doesn't NOT come from money
Not to say his perspective is BS or whatever
That soul quote is so real s/o ferg
Applies also to the grifters infiltrating creative spaces lately.

trauma is the spice of life - vince staples
It’s a reason a lot of rich hipsters try to “dress poor”
Honestly the idea of an artist wanting to fall off intentionally never crossed my mind but I feel this way about Kanye ?

Ye shoulda thought about that after late registration then lmao.
He passed the point of no return by graduation bro was a global icon already
Lil Baby said it best. “I'd rather have the problems I have now then the ones I had when I was broke”

Matter of perspective. But also lil baby comes off like a pretty boring person tho
Also idt anyone is saying being broke is the best way to be, but a middle ground versus living in excess/pimp my ride type status doesnt seem too bad.
