this is really just “These Days 2”
Don't you ever say such a statement. That's not even close to being true
this is really just “These Days 2”
These days was actually a 2014 classic for me. Lost my homie who loved that album the same year
Finally listened and that Lupe feature is my verse of the year I am actually really mixed in samurai but I be positive cause just glad chilly out thriving . Chilly as you may know asked him to make samurai so he made it quick he has dropped a lot more than I ever expected after tetsuo and youth and all threats of retirement
Yeah this album is gas. Loving the voice/flow change. Feel like Soul stepped up as an emcee too. He’s almost on that Lupe/Black Thought level to me

Samurai was in the works/finished since like 2021, Chilly just gave Lupe incentive to finally drop it

Yeah chilly homework when I want him cooking what he wants I heard that interview though
On the 3rd listen and its getting better tbh. He is really spitting on this, some of the production can be more ambitious and stuff but his lyrics make up for it
Saudi Sweets is oddly one of my favorite tracks on here
The psychedelic production, unorthodox chorus with him spitting is dope
It reminds me of CS
Crazier is the ONE
the lines towards the end by Ab, i ain't checked lyrics yet or nothing, but he said something like
"you grow a money tree and they get shadier, ya foundation gets shakier, you remember what happened to the saviour"
reference to Money Trees and Saviour? or nah? idk what he means by that, can't be shade because he said he'd take a 7.62 for Top Dawg does he mean because Kendrick formed PGLang instead of running with TDE still?

I gotta dig into his verse cause that’s interesting

i don't think it's a diss but i don't know how else it's supposed to be interpreted when it seems too on the nose not to be a kenny reference with the money trees/saviour wordplay
he mentions earlier in the verse "don't worry about those niggas they aint on our team" or something like that but that's the only other thing i could think to connect that to in that verse and it probably ain't even connected
ab soul was on the pop out stage
but ab soul was also on might delete later clickin up with the other side during beef
on another note that's so f***ed up ab tried to commit by jumping off that bridge. i had no idea and he been one of my favourite artists since control system.
since the honesty in that bar is so apparent, when he says he "I AM broke, I AM ON F***IN D****" it does make me worry for his wellbeing mentally and financially. it would be sad to see someone so instrumental to that era become broke due to whatever reasons, if he saying he's on d**** then i gotta assume it's more than nicotine vapes like he said before, ain't no way that made him tried to commit, there was obviously deeper reasons behind that and i hope he finds help.
oh, and on ANOTHER note, there ain't no way ab soul don't blaze, everything about him, the conspiracy influence in his music whether it be just that or occult references, the wacky concepts and ideas, the out there bars, he's stoned out of his f***in mind, ain't no way he ain't
