    It's ok to admit it

First off, "Nas is one of the Greatest Ever. never has and never will need a ghostwriter. that man's pen and legacy is without question"

Secondly, even if he did.. we are talking about 1 deep cut off one of Nas' least celebrated albums. Doesn't take anything away from him either way

I agree but not really a fair comparison considering the fact that Jay E has been pretty much silent for his entire career and just put out his first album this year

That's not his f***ing first album and I hate people who pretend like it's a debut. That is bullshit. I listened to a hay elect album in like 2010 how was that not his debut, minus all the label technicalities BS

100% on buddens side on this

Lol I like Act 2 and I'm giving him the benefit of doubt cause it's an unfinished leak but this album isn't anywhere near flawless or worth the 10 year hype
A lot of recycled rapping over Alicia Keys piano loops and leftover MF Doom flows all for him to drop 1 verse over 5 minute songs
The best part on the album wasn't even by him (Dinner At Tiffany's)
And we already heard the best songs years ago

The thing with Jay E is after a while when you get used to his gimmick you grow a little tired of him

A lot of Act 2 and AWT is just straight braggadocious rap, not that different than what Rakim did back in the day, not to mention Nas himself. It's outdated and the best rappers these days have grown past that s***.

    Hell naw lol

Nas has plenty of legit classic tracks that make his crowd go crazy in a live show. No one really cares for that track like that. It's not even top 50 as far as his discog goes.

Control was a moment we won't get again, Kendrick has progressed from that point and did a lot of different stuff while Jay E has been recycling the same verse from Control his entire career

His style is still based on standard 90's boom bap in its core, he builds all of his s*** with that structure

So on a pure musical level that's what he's limited to. A niche artist.

Nobody denies that he's a super gifted writer, but I wish he dropped the deity persona. And stopped reminding me that he's signed to The ROC every 2 mins, I get it.

If he dropped a pure mature introspective project with no gimmicks and preaching, and no Travis Scott feats.. it'd be his best s*** to me

  • Jay E seems like the intentionally quiet reserved dude in a community college class who thinks he's brilliant and above it but gives horrible presentations and gets a C- at the end.

Damn I didn’t mind the Trav feat on AWT honestly
