If you genuinely believe that, then you gotta have zero irl experience. Every reaction in film to the comet isn’t even made up, it’s based on decades long reactions to global warming and recent reactions to Covid.
yea, the film mostly summed up all the idiocy (sometimes resulting out of angst) present nowadays and put it on screen. However, the scientists were probably treated a bit poorly. I actually think that there are many scientists who know how to properly communicate the message.
Also, the comet isn't a consequence of our own way of dealing with nature as opposed to Climate Change (and therefore COVID). I don't think it fully works as an allegory when it comes to that. Then again, the film only picks on the response.

JPEGMAFIAthis movie was insane. I never took Adam McKay as more than just the Will Farrell movie guy, but this put him in the upper tier with Nolan, Scorsese, del Toro, and Bong Joon-ho for me.
The whole movie was hilarious and depressing at the same time. The "we don't allow politics in our home" moment really hit me hard. And for such an over the top silly movie, the ending made me cry even though it was extremely predictable
If i had said this about Big short or Vice i could see where you're coming from but to think this after watching this?? You're absolutely crazy

Lets face it McKay made this movie for the mainstream on some "Ohhhh its about global warming i get it!" Type of s***. Nothing about this movie was deep or multilayered or anything that an average 16 year old wouldn't be able to pick up on
Take away the a list actors and adam and this s*** wouldn't have even been bought by a studio

never saw Big Short tbh but I need to soon.
tbh this movie is right my alley. I love over the top political satire. I'm sure other movies have done it better (Sorry to Bother You for example) but this movie put McKay on the list of directors where I'm going to see their movies whenever they come out
