All my black and latinx people from around the world come through and let's talk about our experiences and educate each other about ancestral worship, ceremonies, rituals and voodoo.
I know there are similarities between regions also stark differences so let's just talk about it.
If you don't believe that's okay but share what you heard etc
So I'm from South Africa and black folks from here are strongly connected to their spirituality and perform rituals regularly for certain amount of reasons*(minor: thanking ancestors, guidance, pregnancy etc.,
Extreme: ukuthwala( doesn't have an English translation but it's an extreme ritual where one can receive prosperity but have to sacrifice something important to them, child, s***etc )
So I wanted to here about your experiences in your cultures

Wish i could but my people are ashamed of the times before Islam and dont like to talk about it

Im somali and like i said i dont know a lot cuz everytime i ask i get told its shameful
Probably just some idolatry stuff maybe ill ask my grandma she has more experience with old customs
Another thing in my culture is most families will have a dedicated traditional healer(sangoma) who is chosen by their ancestors to communicate with them and also passed down messages that people need to know from their ancestors.
Izangoma(plural for sangoma) have different gifts given to them. Some get their gifts through prophecy(linked with church and ancestors) others are able to communicate with ancestors through amatambo (bones)
Etc
There's alot of gift levels ๐
@op what makes u believe spirituality is real?
Because I engage in rituals and my sister is a traditional healer (sangoma) and we do communicate with our ancestors doing these rituals
