There's like 10 artists who really move the needle and all of them are either vets or blew up pre covid. 2020s has no real stars and it's gonna hurt the industry real bad in the next few years.
There are enough 2010-2020 artists still alive to milk for plenty long enough to bridge the little gap

It was an experimental album and a passion project dedicated to Virgil, he wasn’t really chasing hits or numbers on that one.

Only when sales annoy Drake stans who spent the better part of a decade watering down music discourse with banal, personally irrelevant statistics on sites like this one.
Speaking just for myself, I couldn't care less how much Kendrick sells. I don't get a commission and there are hundreds of artists I love who never feature on any Billboard chart.
It's nice to see a great artist win and an annoying fanbase lose. That's all.

Also my personal feelings aside that straight male comment probably killed off a lot of her momentum with male listeners, which has always been the biggest barrier with a woman rapper truly taking over the game as a top rapper. folks gotta tread carefully picking who to pander to lol. Drake s*** also kinda got shakey inversely when he went too Andrew Tate-y and started being too antagonistic towards women.
