mr get doughIts really so dope to me that they did an album like Nevermind which is really what makes it hard for me to compare other bands at the time to them bc that album is genius, but then they switched it up completely and still made a classic less than 2 years later
I think "In Utero" is obviously a bit more on the nose and unsettling then "Nevermind" but Kurts songwriting is still better than ever. I think if he would've lived, he would've kept experimenting.

As a band, they the characters, good to great music, great performances and their music is still alive till this day. Something that U2 tries very hard at, but everything about them just seems forced. It's just like The Beatles, their some of the greatest characters in music history.
Kurt Cobain is more iconic than the actual band Nirvana. Their legendary, but I think it's easy to over blow their legend.

He said in an interview before he died that he didn’t like his crowd anymore and he wanted to make some new wave music and try to make some dance beats and use drum machines
I really wish we coulda heard him do something like that it woulda been very interesting. I fully believe they woulda had a radiohead type trajectory if they kept going

American Idiot has songs like Jesus of Suburbia that were entire prog concept punk masterpieces and the most massive arena punk rock singles maybe OAT
You had to think they were going full Guns N Roses/Nirvana levels popularity and they let MCR steal their swag in between years

Beach Boys fell off but let’s not pretend that they weren’t responsible for countless classic singles and 7+ great albums between 1965 and 1977 (Today, Pet Sounds, Smile, Friends, Sunflower, Surf’s Up, Love You). The level of influence they had was immense and their longevity puts them at the top of their class.
