Putting Nirvana at the top for me is like putting Biggie at the top. Love him so much, he’s in my top 5, but two classics just isn’t enough for that kind of talk I’m sorry

they have three great studio albums, a classic live album, a classic rarities comp and loads of cool demos/live songs so I disagree!

yeah if we’re going off impact, VU is clearing Nirvana

The variety they put out across 4 albums is insane. They innovated underground rock music so many different ways in just a few years.

For me personally, Lou Reed changed the way I heard guitar forever. I'd been exposed to a lot of the guitar greats, but White Light/White Heat convinced me that even I could do something with a guitar that sounded incredible. With that band, it wasn't about practicing scales, it was about creating a sonic world to express the most creative version of yourself.

Reminder that no matter how good some of Zappas music might be, he was an extremely reactionary crypto-fascist that supported Polish fascist parties

Not judging, I listen to Burzum, but this doesn’t get talked about enough

Ok but he made Sheik Yerbouti tho

you are so on right on the money about white light/white heat. heard her call my name and sister ray made a huge impression on me as a kid…same with joey santiago of the pixies. being able to implement atonal sounds like that in a conventional song really blew my mind lmao
