Dont nobody need critics for nothing but since music is purely subjective, masses will constantly seek for some kind of validation as to what is actually good and what isnt, this is where the general consensus of critics comes into play which is usually also regarded as a pretty fair general consensus of the masses too, which is the closest thing we have to objectivity in music

why don't you criticize the masses need for some kind of guidance over their opinions, rather than championing for agenda-setting critics lol. a lot of critics get paid off to give good reviews, it has plagued the gaming industry in particular for decades. mid-ass games getting rave reviews but the actual community think they suck. happens in music too, cardi b's last album comes to mind. it was decent, but wasn't like AOTY or anything lol. for all the praise it got, the s*** is legit forgotten now and it's not even 2 full years old.
