we gonna act like After Hours doesn’t also have elite sequencing?
Escape From LA
Heartless
Faith
Blinding Lights
Facts
I think Dawn FM is the better album, but After Hours is also a singular concept album with a concise sound
I think sonically, I found AH far more attainable and desirable to my ears. It felt more poppy with the use of 70s/80s synths all over the place and less "interruption" in-between the tracks (i.e. no commentary in-between the tracks from Jim Carrey or Quincy Jones - both legends, just didn't enjoy that part of Dawn FM). After Hours also hit the nostalgia right on the nose with the use of smooth jazz, 80s pop feel, and individual deep-cut tracks just standing out (e.g. Snowchild, Escape from LA, and Faith).
Though, I think the story within Dawn FM is far more complete than After Hours and a better general story can be visualized in your head and on screen.
Love them both but After Hours is better to me. Maybe unpopular opinion not sure but that’s his best album to me, love all the balance of sounds on it (thought it accomplished that effort a lot better than the still great Starboy) and it also had his best songwriting alongside maybe Kissland but minus the angst of his early 20s.
Ratings aren’t wholly accurate about how I feel but if After Hours is a 9 to me Dawn FM is a 7.5.

Agreed! I think the album doesn't go to all over the place that Starboy was and knew how to target the concept of the album really well. I think MDM was a perfect EP prior to After Hours for the Weeknd to try out some thoughts that didn't mesh with Starboy
So easy to just let Dawn run once I start playing it. Sometimes I'm feeling a certain song and I start there, but I almost always play the next 2-3 songs. After hours got more essential Weeknd songs, but for a long time stan, I think Dawn has something special
After Hours. Not even close.
one of these has Escape From LA on it and the other doesn’t
But the other has How Do I Make You Love Me
Escape from LA and After Hours obliterate every song on DawnFM
and Alone Again.
Unreal..
imma have to go with dawn fm. Been one of those albums that I listen to on a daily basis.
Very few albums have made me do that.
