i didnt know this but its interesting

    https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWeeknd/comments/ljvq8b/chronological_order_of_the_after_hours_story/

i prefer the vibe of the twisted fantasy story and the accompanying visuals but thats subjective

but the think about variation in production is still true IMO

Yeah I posted a video of everything compiled in the OP definitely an extremely interesting narrative if that’s the kind of thing you’re into.

idk bout MBDTF tier but i randomly came back to this album recently and it's easily one of the best album experiences of the last few years, so many hits, so many great moments

    such a great cohesive listen

  • Nov 10, 2021

i don't think it was as good as MBDTF, but if we're talking about it being a moment in the pop culture, i don't think there has been an album as important as AH since

    no

    its just a good album

do y'all actually understand MBDTF? its not just that album with power on it

The comparisons are really just more of a symbol or metaphor or whatever you wanna call it. Like something to aspire to. The thread title could've easily been "After Hours was the latest Thriller-tier album" it's not a specific track by track comparison.

Also OP clearly maps out all the categories he thinks both albums hit, it's not just about the music but about the "era" and "experience" I suppose.

Actually nah on second thought I’d put After Hours in that MBDTF, Blonde, TPAB, WLR category. Even if I think it’s the weakest. OP right tbh

    WLR? Ok

    just without the critical reception

in the fact that everyone stopped and listened when they dropped

The storyline in all the videos definitely give it a great argument

What made MBDTF do great is that it checked off all the boxes: Incredible rollout, great music, iconic videos, solid theme/storyline.
