    same feedback looping principle

    Wym

this kind of thing. Carving sculptures out of marble by comparing multiple results against a dataset in a feedback loop. Only with audio it would be FFT data. Im not an AI expert but that's the main principle no?

basically do u have a source on the claim that its cheaper? I dont understand why it would be

a paintings value comes from the painter themselves + their time and effort

theres no value in generative art if anyone could do it

So u enjoy the idea of a person making a painting and not the painting itself?

Trying to force it into one or the other isn’t a point. Nobody even said they don’t enjoy the painting itself

The painting would be nothing without the labor that was required to accurately express what the artist wanted

AI removes the agency of the artist in ways digital-analog do not

If you've ever been to an art museum, you know that AI can never replicate paintings made by a human being. Part of the joy of looking at a painting is experiencing the way the paint is layered and almost has a three-dimensional quality to it. Flat, one-dimensional amalgamations of various artwork lack that texture.

F*** you if you use ai for anything at all in music. Apple and Spotify should automatically ban you if they find out

  • Depends on how much water was wasted in th creation process

Spotify itself should be banned and prosecuted for tarnishing public property

I don't have a direct study on the comparison specially about stem splitters. But from my understanding, with small ML/DL models like the ones used in the stem splitter, they use a far smaller dataset to train off. And due to the model being single minded in terms of their function, there's less computational power and hardware need to operate

    carbonlimitingtechnologies.com/insights/ai-and-sustainability-can-artificial-intelligence-deliver-a-net-positive-environmental-impact

Because LLMs are trained on vastly larger datasets and require billions of parameters, LLMs and generative AI need far more computing power, electricity and cooling. Traditional machine learning models are smaller, task-specific, and therefore much less resource-intensive.

    arxiv.org/pdf/2311.16863

"we find that multi-purpose, generative architectures are orders of magnitude more expensive than task-specific systems for a variety of tasks", "Generative tasks are more energy- and carbon-intensive compared to discriminative tasks. As shown in Figure 1, the
most energy- and carbon-intensive tasks are those that generate new content: text generation, summarization, image
    captioning, and image generation."

However, all the above advancements come at the cost of increased computational requirements: AI/ML models often necessitate large datasets and extensive processing requirements, greatly increasing energy demands 8. This is clearly illustrated in the domain of generative AI, where datasets and computing resources are vastly larger than conventional discriminative AI use cases.

I guess it would make sense cause they have to interpret prompts

  • AI is OKAY for anyway to make music. No limits at all. Just much as artificial intelligence slop as possible can be injected into my ear canal. I freaking love AI dude!!
