i think it does but primarily because i don't really understand who the primary audience for this is. kendrick has already performed at the Halftime show, and it was fine because it was a segment of something that made sense w mass appeal - and when i say mass appeal, i literally mean like "would someone's 65 year old dad at least vaguely recognize this and vaguely approve of it".
kendrick has a lot of hits but he has hits with younger audiences and maybe like Gen X at oldest. if you compare this to like the past few superbowls, Usher, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Shakira/J Lo, it's like, what is the average white boomer going to recognize and get hyped for here?
His set w/ Dre at least made sense because they were doing songs that were so huge it was impossible to not know. even there the reaction from white boomers was like "well it's alright I guess" and those were 2 of his biggest concert songs. so is he going to replay them or what?
I'm sure from an objective standpoint in terms of quality it'll be fine, he can do a good concert/show and has done some good performances before, but i have no idea how this is going to be received in terms of mass appeal pop culture spectacle

playing anything off of GNX, which seems all but confirmed, seems pretty crazy to me

I guess the SB performer doesnt NEED to play only their biggest songs, nor do I listen to the radio or charts, so maybe I'm off base and those songs are really popular, but I would not play em if I was him, regardless of the layup promo the SB HT show provides.

i dont think theyre going to get pissed off, theyre just not going to understand it. Eminem - who is white, sure - saluted kaepernick during his show and beyonce did a whole ass black power show. its not about politics here or anything just recognition and pop culture pull
