i think it does but primarily because i don't really understand who the primary audience for this is. kendrick has already performed at the Halftime show, and it was fine because it was a segment of something that made sense w mass appeal - and when i say mass appeal, i literally mean like "would someone's 65 year old dad at least vaguely recognize this and vaguely approve of it".
kendrick has a lot of hits but he has hits with younger audiences and maybe like Gen X at oldest. if you compare this to like the past few superbowls, Usher, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Shakira/J Lo, it's like, what is the average white boomer going to recognize and get hyped for here?
His set w/ Dre at least made sense because they were doing songs that were so huge it was impossible to not know. even there the reaction from white boomers was like "well it's alright I guess" and those were 2 of his biggest concert songs. so is he going to replay them or what?
I'm sure from an objective standpoint in terms of quality it'll be fine, he can do a good concert/show and has done some good performances before, but i have no idea how this is going to be received in terms of mass appeal pop culture spectacle
hopefully it pisses white america off
Why are yall like this. So miserable 😂

ya everyone is just looking at this from PERSONAL satisfaction which is cool, hope people enjoy it ofc.
but im taking a "chart" "numbers" watching approach to this.

We got ktt posters writing dissertations why this will be a bad half time show because a 65 year old dad won’t recognize money trees 💔
We questioning SZAs popularity now

playing anything off of GNX, which seems all but confirmed, seems pretty crazy to me
I guess the SB performer doesnt NEED to play only their biggest songs, nor do I listen to the radio or charts, so maybe I'm off base and those songs are really popular, but I would not play em if I was him, regardless of the layup promo the SB HT show provides.
Gotta remember Kendrick already performed maad city and Alright at the Super Bowl.

if youre taking a chart and numbers logic they got 2 of the best selling artist performing at the super bowl
the hell are yall even saying

Well if they get a person thats loved by boomers than no other generation is going to care.
Boomers are in their 70s now, they can even hear the superbowl
hopefully it pisses white america off
i dont think theyre going to get pissed off, theyre just not going to understand it. Eminem - who is white, sure - saluted kaepernick during his show and beyonce did a whole ass black power show. its not about politics here or anything just recognition and pop culture pull
TV Off is a given
Song was made for da SB
Sza need to be only for the last minute for All The Stars. Other 12 needs to be full Kendrick
Still didn’t answer the question about the song? What’s her “song” like the one everyone regardless of genre goes yeah I know this.
I’m waiting
Kill Bill. The song that is nearing 2.5 billion streams on Spotify alone. The song that was #1 on the hot 100 & global 200. The song that spent 52 weeks on the hot 100, 18 of which were in the top 10.
If Wayne didn’t get on Camera and cry this could be him.
No it wouldnt. He doesnt have the ability to perform anymore regardless of whos d*** he sucked to try and get in rn
f***ing mee maw and pop paw don't know who kendrick is so the halftime show is a dub
lmao

These dudes are insane letting a beef distract them from this point.
Not everything that has a following is ready for center stage. Super bowl is for seasoned vets with years of undeniable massive hits that are ingrained into American culture.
if youre taking a chart and numbers logic they got 2 of the best selling artist performing at the super bowl
the hell are yall even saying
just wondering if the average person tuning into this is going to f*** with it. that's all. ofc KTT is going to love it. this site represents like the opposite of the average SB watcher though.

f***ing mee maw and pop paw don't know who kendrick is so the halftime show is a dub
lmao
Mee maw and pop paw havent watched the last few superbowls either anyway
The who did a Super Bowl and yall are saying Kendrick and SZA don’t have the pull to do it lol
i dont think theyre going to get pissed off, theyre just not going to understand it. Eminem - who is white, sure - saluted kaepernick during his show and beyonce did a whole ass black power show. its not about politics here or anything just recognition and pop culture pull
they absolutely will even if kendrick gave the safest performance of all time

Well if they get a person thats loved by boomers than no other generation is going to care.

this definitely isn't true. Again look at who is headlining past superbowls and look at this one. This isn't a commentary on the quality of music or like sales number, it's just about certain types of recognition vs who is consuming a product. like yes im sure at this point everyone in the US is like "yeah i know who kendrick is", but its more about what songs does he have that are as widely known as like, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Shakira, Lady Gaga, etc. It's just a different world. Like artists like Coldplay or Katy Perry are trash slop artists but they were recognizable in a very specific sense of the word at height of popularity, that's all i mean.
