POOM POOM DOOMI think another reason that can be considered is the fact that he did "too many favors" for other artist (a lot of his biggest features and hooks weren't paid for, and instead agreed to do them in exchange for a feature on HIS records), and waited until he wasn't as popping anymore to cash in his favor card.

Like let’s say he drops a song ft Kanye and Lil Wayne
I think people will listen
But he’s blackballed for some reason
His album from years ago got scrapped and he won a stupid reality show just to release another album that also flopped (last year)

TLDR: Chinese have been doing heavy "development" projects in Latin America and Africa which are just fronts for imperialism and Akon City is just one of many ways of doing so

I remember that very short period of time where he was signed to Cash Money, but then was dropped because he was considered to be "too much of a liability" (his words).
He did the hook for "Good Life" in exchange for a Ye feature on his song "Therapy" from his album "Thr33 Ringz" (a very underrated Ye verse in my opinion btw).
He did "Got Money" in exchange for "Can't Believe It".
He did "One More Drink" in exchange for "Chopped and Screwed".
I also think Akon was wrong about T-Pain not trying to cross-over, his follow up album to Thr33 Ringz had a lot of EDM records on it. They were just trash.
