Republicans haven’t won and election fair and square in so long

    2016 exists

Trump just happened to go up against one of the worst candidates in history in Hillary, he still won fair and square though

Some of the biggest “what ifs” in US history are def Huey Long not getting killed, JFK not getting killed, Nixon not getting impeached/resigning, and Gore winning in 2000. The 2000s election and Bush years were crazy influential and at the time I don’t think people knew just how much that would be a cultural and political pivot even 20 years later

  • Nov 5, 2020

big doubt, his response to 9/11 wouldn't have been much different than bush, especially when he chose a neocon in joe liberman as his vp

Al Gore is a manipulative liar, he is the reason people distrust climate change. If Al Gore didn't exist the world would've been a better place.

Lol no it wouldn’t. Al gore is much needed against the conservative ignorance of what’s happening with our climate.

Al Gore inflated the numbers in his little presentation to make a point and get some shine for himself. That heavily fueled that very same conservative ignorance when it came out. People started to feel like it was a scam all together. No, he is definitely at least partly responsible for the current state of ignorance America is in right now.

I don’t know anything of inflating or deflating numbers, but what I do know is he had a point and they didn’t want to hear it. Very much how they still don’t want to hear when they’re wrong. They are responsible enough to admit they messed up so they rather double down than just turn it around. I’ll say it again, gore was needed and he should have ran again.

Listen, I understand your reasoning, but you must be able to understand my point. Gore was saying something important in general, climate change, we both agree.

Al Gore said that a sea-level rise of up to 20ft by the ice melting in either west Antarctica or Greenland would happen "in the near future" while it turned out to be millennia.

Do you genuinely believe this didn't cause skepticism?

He said Mount Kilimanjaro’s glacier would disappear by 2016.
He said the Arctic summers could be ice-free as soon as 2014.
Was he right? An inconvenient Truth is generally regarded as a highly alarmist and dramatic presentation intended to flare up the public, but to what end? You do see where I am coming from?

  • Nov 5, 2020

KTT would have hated Gore if he ran today though lmao

Anti gay-marriage, pro-death penalty, pro MIC, wanted more tax cuts and wanted to pay down the national debt.

People forget how conservative the 3rd way Dems were, we've come a long way

I don’t have proof of those predictions but assuming you’re right and he did exaggerate or not know the exact amount of time cause who truly would? He still had his heart in the right place trying to get us to give a f***. That’s my point. Obviously the science and numbers had changed is more accurate now 20 years later, but the mission to save this climate for future generations is the same.

I rather have someone ho exaggerated the outcome a bit but cares about the right things, then someone who could care less.

Republicans had just done this before Clinton broke the run tho 8 years before Bush v Gore

I get what you’re saying tho but its been in play before and just barely missed in 2000.

It was in An Inconvenient Truth. Here is my source:

The scientists truly would, at the time it was already known within the community that Gore's predictions were far too dramatic. Here is a scientific source from it's time debunking Gore:

    skepticalscience.com/al-gore-inconvenient-truth-errors-intermediate.htm

While it might have been from the good of heart and while you rather have someone who exaggerates the outcome "a bit" (millennia), the reality is that he is the main reason behind the climate skepticism that is rampant today. You might not like it, you might think he did the right thing for the effort of raising awareness, maybe he did! But just like he is responsible for raising the awareness, he also is responsible for the raising of the skepticism and there is no changing that.

Fair, I can see your point and agree as most things are double-edged sword in politics. Regardless though if it wasn’t for awareness, it’d be complete ignorance. The difference now is, it’s willful ignorance as most people have been made aware of what’s going on in the climate and environment. If they choose to not listen to science then they need to choose to take responsibility when their grand kids inherit a filthy planet they can barely breathe on.
