Really amazing and slept on song imo but personally as much as I love that song I don't think it is top 10. Especially over other songs on that project like Marvins Room, Shot For Me, Lord Knows, Doing It Wrong and The Ride.

Yeah I mean when that album came out I was a teen coming off a 2 year relationship. Safe the say on a personal level that project hit different for sure
Not to mention this was his sophomore album. It's the album were people really look to see whether someone is genuinely going to last a good while or it was just all hype and fluke. He pasted the sophomore slump test with flying colors. It's the album that made people think that he was definitely going to be one of the greats. So I understand what he saying but taking an unbiased look at the projects quality-wise and Nothing Was the Same definitely does almost everything a little better.

I mean, The Motto was Iconic, Marvins Room was Iconic, HYFR etc etc. The appearance of the "OVO Owl" etc, the moments people were in.
But in terms of album and song structure, the balance you mentioned. NWTS ticks all of these plus giving us iconic moments.
If you'd hypothetically want CLB to be like any of those two albums, it would be NWTS.
