Views, Scorpion, and DLDT are all below 70

And I don’t think anyone ever questions Drake’s commercial relevance and popularity. If they do it’s not taken seriously.

What people question is Drake’s ability to craft a creatively transcendent body of work at this stage in his career. A project that is more than the sum of its parts, more than a meaningless collection of good to great Drake songs. I think he can without a doubt but until he does the critics, haters, and casuals will come for him.

Everyone ā€œlistensā€ to Drake lol. People will listen to him all day just to turn around and hate on him in a rap debate with their friends. The numbers are cool but a lot of them streams be fake love.

I never seen Views accused of being a collection of songs. Most people agree it’s cohesive. They just didn’t like he went Pop instead of another IYRTITL darker tone album.
Scorpion I agree. Sequencing on that album is garbage.
DLDT is literally a collection of Demos and leaks as Drake said was gonna be.
As for the people hate listening to an artist all year long every year.
I can’t speak to that. It seems like thats a mental health issue.

You right but one Dance and controlla make people think of pop and they were smash hits.
So everything else gets lumped in from the album in they minds.

Anyone thinking that is dumb. The sequencing of the project plus production are strong asf. The project itself is Toronto Inspired and Afrobeats is big over there. Keep The Family Close is a cold intro him adding that wind effect wasn't just cause he thought it was cool it wass because he wanted to it to represent that.

people are lazy and just stick to the easiest narratives.

But I personally feel that Views is one of if not the Best commercial Pop R&B and Hiphop albums of all time.

    Also Dancehall and Afrobeats
There is no other Pop R&B and Hiphop album that sounds like it ever before that.

More Life is also one of the Greatest Global Dispora albums of all time. Look at how many world wide sounds are on that album Canda , Uk , Africa , U.S. etc.

    I was thinking Cole.

but also lowkey lil baby because he has openly asked Drake like 4 times this year to hop on records.

But I want it to be Cole cause it would shock the game. an I would buy the vinyl for a collectors item.

Exactly there's really no project that people can call on that really sounds like Views but again they will call it Generic just because their favorite critic/artist says so but can't say what project truly captures the sound of Toronto better than that album. Only thing that kind of brings it down for people in which I can understand is the Hip Hop songs that don't really live up to the songs that he made a year before

ā€œ creatively transcendent body of workā€ man shut up weirdo 🤣🤣🤣

Always people force trying to seem extra artsy downplaying drake. This means nothing.

You name the albums last 10 years you see as ā€œcreatively transcendentā€ 😓

drakes a little less than 300 million streams away from breaking 50 billion all time streams on spotify so if CLB drops within the next two weeks thats another boost in press

not like he needs it but s*** free is free

    So... This month?

Doubt artists will be able to tour this year, so why wait?

  • Jan 2, 2021

Really hope the sequencing is better on this one, just listened to scorpion side B and got reminded that he really went from Jaded into Nice For What smh

  • Jan 2, 2021

    @FREEBIRD CLB this month?

  • Just imagine if it was DJ Khaled dropping this month, he would have posted 300 posts about the album these 2 days. Drake so quiet, not a single post about the album since the trailer. Give us something!!

You know something you’ve said struck a nerve when the name calling begins lol. So I’m a ā€œweirdoā€ because I have a firm grasp of the English language and I know how to use it to properly illustrate my point? You probably one of them kids who thought being dumb was cool growing up.

Anyway I’m not going to sit here and name albums for you just so you can criticize my list. That would be a waste of my time. And I’m not ā€œforcingā€ anything. I’ve been listening to music for a looong time now so I understand the difference between a well crafted body of work that makes a big impact on music culture from a creative standpoint and an album that is just a great collection of songs that makes a big impact commercially. If you don’t that’s on you.

ā€œTrying to seem extra artsyā€ lmao

    Music IS ART ā€œWeirdoā€

I really enjoyed Views tbh. I think it is his most well crafted body of work in the last 5 years. At the time it dropped tho it was following up TC, NWTS, and IYRTITL so it really never stood a chance in the court of public opinion. I def remember people complaining about the album not being cohesive back then when I would get in convos/debates about it. I feel like a lot of people are changing their stance on that album as it ages but the initial reception was terrible.
