Overall what draws me to bjprk is how even in 2026 her music always feels like its pushing pop / dance music to its limits both in her lyrics and song structure cause who is making a song like theres more to life than this today? It sounds like the chorus is being played live in a club and she's singing in the studio. Its one of the most unique and well produced songs ive ever heard.
this album gives off a special emotional feeling that is super hard to describe, theres longing for people and connection like in Aeroplane or Crying or Violently Happy and i can feel a sadness and loneliness at the same time in so much of the songs, but its not pessimistic, its actually very weirdly optimistic (One Day) like even though you feel sadness loneliness or heartbreak you will get through it eventually and you will never get to that feeling if you dont persevere .
And i dont even have to mention it but nobody represents the butterflies in your stomach feeling like bjork. Like Someone In Love is that feeling in straight audio form and same with Venus As a Boy.
And then the closer Anchor Song which sounds a bit depressing with the saxophone but i interpret the lyrics just being true to yourself and your home no matter where the currents take you, and there i can kind of see why this album is so matter of factly named debut
I really loved this album and i cant even really name a song i didn't like , Glad i actually gave this a thorough listening
I’m glad you enjoyed
its kind of crazy how this album still sounds fresh today.
Glad you got something positive out of the experience, i myself only heard people saying amazing things about the album beforehand so i had my expectations high going in and i still really liked it. He has that very sad and longing desperation in his voice especially on a song like last goodbye which is stuck in my head even now. And i agree with hallelujah cause i htink its just been seeped too much into the culture id hear it on a lot of tv shows as a kid so i was kinda surprised when i found it its one of the most popular or well received covers of the song
Absolutely! I think one thing I really enjoy about this album is it feels like there’s no “HIT”. Like there’s no stone that feels left unturned. He lets the songs play out until they almost feel like they’re done not when he/label execs want it done.
didnt wanna fake a reaction and didnt wanna be rude
You listen to the entirety, whether you like it or not and then you give your honest opinion, it would be rude to do otherwise
Dam ok
I'm down for next week's, I'm just guilt-free backing out of this week's

My review for James Blake - S/T![]()
I expected this to be full electronic and no vocals but ended up with a pleasant surprise. Such a mellow and melancholic album. Reminds me of church music but with that signature early 2010s UK electronic sound. Loved the sub bass on "limit to your love". The organ and lyrics on "i never learnt to share" are very personal as well. Also loved the vocal chops on "i mind". Will be adding this to my rotation and can see it growing on me big time.

Bro got me listening to fewtch.
When I was listening through this my thoughts on how to rate each sing basically went like:
Using this important measurement scale, it did indeed contain many doohickeys! Weird ass intro aside, the album starts off with a bop with you deserve it and while i do like the chorus on this sing the album ACTUALLY starts for me on first class flights. As soon as u hear those horns in the intro u alrdy KNO IM BUYIN FIRST CLASS FLIGHTS ON THESE P**** NIGGAS
Fewtch sounds aggro and just slidin on this.
Following this we get jealous and one of the singles of the album with turn on the lights. Jealous was kinda whatever to me but turn on the lights is another doohickey. Just like those synth (?) loops throughout the song like he somewhat does with Draco. Straight up (Big booty freak and she fartin straight up)
My and Same Damn Time is another 2 piece combo of
Even if his flow on My is hella repetitive. Same damn time u already kno i heavy fw it but i never heard the remix before but I feel like Luda clears Diddy
and Fewtch on this I'm afraid.
To go through the next sings quickly. Most of em have quite catchy choruses altho sounding a bit dated such as magic, homicide, neva end, and I'm trippin (juicy J clears fewtch on this too) With dated it's mostly the beats and occasionally his voice too tho due to the catchiness i still find myself boppin to em.
Parachute with Kells
is a weird but fun one. Kells comes through with a nice verse but on the chorus it doesnt sound like Kells nor Fewtch on it
After this i didnt rlly like any other songs save for astronaut chick kinda. Here the dated and his voice rlly do sound bad imo and Trae the truth is prolly the WORST feat on this shi cause nigga sounds he need to drink some WATER.
Overall an enjoyable debut (?) with some absolute heaters but also some sings that sounds hella dated in a not so good way.
6.5/10 With Kells & Diddy -100000000/10

Standing On The Corner - self titled
I love the wonky feel of the instrumentals here a whole lot. The sound of the album is as if the guy sourced all his guitar pedals, drum machines, mic and anything else at a garage sale and half the s*** he bought barely works — which ironically works for me as a listener.
My biggest issue is that the vocals have such a small presence here and I found myself tuning them out. I was essentially enjoying this as an instrumental album but the few moments my ears did catch the lyrics, I found myself intrigued by what was being said.
Overall, I had a good time. I took my dog for a walk under some nice weather and had the album serve as the soundtrack. It was a swell time.
I’m giving it around a 6-7/10 because my hurdle with the vocals is a pretty huge one for me but I think anyone more accustomed to this style of music could find a classic in this.
