Albums that didn't meet your expectations

MMLP2- GOAT marketing, but man, it really emphasized the worst of Em in the 2010s. Failed to be a successor both literal or spiritual. Ended up being a compilation of offbeat battle raps with WOAT hooks. Bad Guy was amazing and everything else after was mid.

    Jesús is King.

That’s fair he’s one of the best rappers in his lane. Ion mean to put him in a box but if he’s gonna market his album on some “Im gonna take y’all back to 2016” s***. You can’t expect fans to not expect that melodic Uzi that was everywhere in 2016, the year he was referring to

    Tha Gawd You Know

i just remember hating the production and he was rapping slower than usual idk i just wanted good ass job with them LR orchestra hip hop.

    You’re absolutely right

It grew on me over time but initially I thought it was a step down from the first albums. Just didn’t seem as ambitious

Now I understand why he went that direction. I was young so I didn’t realize that people were running off with the soul sound he popularized

  • Nasir - Nas didnt have anything interesting to say

Jesus Is King - i still love the album but i was expecting it to be another classic

A Written Testimony - probably too early to tell but a compilation of 10 of his loosies is better than this album

Magna Carta - just sounds like a soulless safe version of WTT

Way Back sample was super hard

The producers didn’t even do nun to it

The producers didn’t even do nun to it

Chopped it and laid new drums

    lil sunny

Don Toliver’s new album. Had some good/borderline great songs, but nothing touched the singles and Situation

I feel this super heavily. My expectations were through the roof though and I can only blame myself for that but I still love the project

KRIT Iz Here- 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time was a classic caliber album and this as a follow up was reaching for commercial success and felt off, KRIT’s Crash Talk tbh

    In recent memory:

FLYGOD is an Awesome God - s*** just lacked everything a great WSG project usually has. A lot of forgettable tracks

Nasir - Nas and Kanye don’t have the best chemistry imo.

    We Major

    That rakim song. CLASSIC

Started with amazing hype with Days in the East, U With Me OG Snippet, a dark and reflective vibe and the title album VIEWS FROM THE 6, wow, what a time, but... Meek Mill started with the bullshit and the album go for another way, it became a commercial album, sad. Have good joints like KTFC, Weston Road F, Redemption... But have too much fillers, no cohesion and the corny dancehall vibe,

  • EA

No innovation, Uzi tried to rap alot but it made the album sound like spam with the repetitive lyrics.

    Compton

    Good album but it's Dre

  • Mar 14, 2020

Damn - some good tracks but some tracks I really hate also, not nearly as good as TPAB or GKMC

Most of Vince Staples stuff since summertime 06

    Astroworld to some degree

Slime Language by Thugger (still love him tho)

Kanye - graduation and 808s.- nothing like the CD/LR vibes
Nas - Hip Hop is dead - he sounded out of touch but it grew
    Jay z - BP2 - hovlaff
Camron - Killa Season - i was hype after purple haze but nah.
Lil Wayne - C3 - lotta hype for lotta nothing.
