Fans unironically calling the new Kendrick aoty or even his magnum opus is nuts to me. Easily the lowest effort he's ever put in and it shows
can you expand on lowest effort? i really, really disagree with that, even if you don’t like the album. dude clearly poured his entire soul into some of the songs on there to an extent i don’t think we’ve seen from him

Kendrick’s a phony. His music is for white people who thinks that the black folks need THEIR HELP to get justice. He does nothing but makes music to please the left. It’s not authentic.
I can really go in on Kendrick but I won’t. Just wanna say he ain’t culture.
nah go in because your last post made no sense

I shouldn’t have quoted your comment, it’s not really related to it but yeah, I said what I said

How does a song like N95 cater to the left? If anything, it’s the opposite

Kendrick is one of my favorite rappers but it's amazing to me the way some people gas the project up when it was a below average album.

The highs on the album are better than anything else that’s come out since 2018. There are lows too though

Respectfully disagree. So many better albums with higher highs. It doesn't even have the highest highs this year.
Sudan archive. I don’t get it her album wasn’t that good. I think she’s a indie industry plant.

Ok she’s an industry plant. I saw her open for tame Impala it didn’t fit his vibe at all and he usually has great openers. No one was paying attention to her music even though I recognize now it was songs from her new “critically acclaimed“ album. Pitchfork gave it a 9 and fantano gave it a 8. I really think they’re paying for these reviews so more people can check her out.

I dunno about that necessarily but virtually every indie artist has super rich or industry parents, even the really talented ones.
even dudes like David Berman from Silver Jews, his father was Richard Berman who was one of the most influential lobbyists in US history. the people who aren't from money or background tend to get acclaim but usually are pretty open about struggling or don't get as much widespread attention (see: Jason Molina before his death, or a artist Jay Som who has a following but no real breakout acclaim).
There are exceptions ofc, but a lot of what you see w/ Pitchfork/etc is largely about either pre-existing notoriety (usually carryovers from 90s artists) or having REALLY good PR agencies, which is usually what the industry parent stuff gets you. Idk about industry plant but someone at some PR agency is def doing their job.
I thought more people would go crazy over LUV vs The World 2 tape especially with Bean being a great song
Bean was ruined by the mixing
Every Drake release since IYRTITL is terribly overhated so it's not confusing anymore
Scorpion deserved the hate..
s*** was such a chore to get through and so bland, just like its artwork

nah, Scorpion was too long but had a surprisingly high amount of good to great songs, the beef and the whole drama overshadowed it imo
Certified Lover Boy is another story though

CLB is definitely better than Scorpion
Views, thought it was amazing when I first listened at the midnight drop
Thought I was gonna wake up to glowing reviews but boy was I wrong
Donda
Still confused as to how some of y’all ranking this higher that any Ye album from CD-TLOP
Equally confused as to why the critics panned so harshly
Can’t we just accept the fact that Donda was just a regular good album?
6/10 at the lowest 8/10 at the highest
Personally 7/10 for me
