Like are there any albums that you like/love now that you genuinely didn’t at first (and I mean for a while… not like the usual first listen wtf moment)
It honestly took me a while for Blonde to click. It feels so weird to think that now especially since Channel Orange was instant. For my dad it was the other way around lol.
Yeezus too— hate to say.
Amnesiac by Radiohead is another one that took a while. I didn’t care for it at first but I’m a fan now. Still not my favorite but I looove so many cuts on it.
And the opposite? Big Thief overall for me but some songs still slap. Also Lana outside of NFR has some diminishing returns I feel.
Call me crazy, but IYRTITL didn’t really click with me the first few listens.
I liked it, but didn’t realize how special it was until I threw it on one day and lost my f***ing mind
Not really a 180, but still.
Sadly, on a more negative side, I feel like the opposite happened to me for most early Odd Future stuff. I thought B****** was f***ing IT at first, but nowadays I feel like it’s a great debut, but I rarely come back to it

it’s really crazy how many levels there are to greatness
like there’s put it on a playlist great and then there’s remember it even when you have alzheimer’s great

Absolutely.
Hated it when it came out, skimmed through it, didn't get it, finally let Do The Astral Plane play, became my favorite album OAT, changed my life
HNVM release date was wild
1st listen:
2nd listen:
3rd listen:
4th listen: "How do you say to my face, "Time heals"?
Then go and leave me again, unrealllll"
So many of my favorites
2 major ones are
Madvillainy
The Love Below
Didnt get the hype on these initially but they are favs for me now
Oh s***, another positive one for me is Flower Boy.
I remember expecting Cherry Bomb 2 from the album and getting really disappointed when it first came out.
But then one day I was watching this video on Tyler’s albums and someone was describing what they loved about FB so much, and they were really painting a picture, so I decided to give it a spin immediately after to see if I liked it more.
And it clicked, and I felt like a dumbass for not getting it earlier.
Such a good album, I'm glad I can appreciate it now
probably dawn fm for me, i was disappointed at first and thought the album as a whole was mid. revisited it a year later and boy i was shocked
oh also i didn’t like DAMN. when it dropped because i loooved maad city and TPAB.
now due to personal reasons DAMN. is honestly my favorite. i have an insane story surrounding the release of it and the death of a friend. it’s so unbelievable i feel like it would maybe even become a copypasta lmao. but i would love to share it one day

I’ve grown to appreciate DAMN. as much as TPAB and more than GKMC
Live. Love. ASAP
I remember I heard bass it was so different it was off outting
Eventually that year it clicked
ok computer, dawn fm, illmatic the first few that come to mind
oh and I went back to depression cherry last week and it was wayyyy better than I remembered

it’s such a perfect pop album up through humble. and then lust comes in… such a perfectly timed switch and it just builds in tension from there.
duckworth is my favorite album closer of his and a top 5 kendrick track for me. impeccable

my first time hearing OKC was start to finish on a crowded subway car. airbag started as the doors closed… exited at bryant park and stared up at the skyscrapers and greenery as Let Down came on. i’ve never had a first listen like that before. so special.

my first listen I skipped through to find the choruses lmao
thank god Im not like that anymore
Call Me If You Get Lost. It just did not click with me at first. Now that it clicked, I feel that it is an amazing album. There’s something about Wilshire that always gets me when I listen to it
Damn.
Not that I hated it but didn't felt it at first. Nowadays is one of my fav albums of all time
For every album I do a 180 on it within a couple years of first hearing it where I get bored of it, then a couple years after that I do another 180 to complete the full 360 to be back listening to it for a little while, then I do another 180 to get to 540 with being bored of it then again to 720 and so forth
its cyclical for me
