Whole Lotta Red
I literally can’t explain it. Heard on release and was unimpressed. A year passed and I was like “fuck it let me try again”.. nigga once Stop Breathing came on it all clicked. Track after track I was just sittin there like “i was tweaking”
oh also i didn’t like DAMN. when it dropped because i loooved maad city and TPAB.
now due to personal reasons DAMN. is honestly my favorite. i have an insane story surrounding the release of it and the death of a friend. it’s so unbelievable i feel like it would maybe even become a copypasta lmao. but i would love to share it one day
His best concept. Also his best executed album, being able to address probably his darkest content and make it pop is impressive
Didn’t like SRS. The beats were cool but the rapping SUCKS.
These days i enjoy it, but only for the production. Raps still suck
Usually I do this on artists, not a specific project. You keep listening to anything and you'll grow to like it imo.
Call me crazy, but IYRTITL didn’t really click with me the first few listens.
I liked it, but didn’t realize how special it was until I threw it on one day and lost my f***ing mind
Not really a 180, but still.
Sadly, on a more negative side, I feel like the opposite happened to me for most early Odd Future stuff. I thought B****** was f***ing IT at first, but nowadays I feel like it’s a great debut, but I rarely come back to it
Same IYRTITL sounded to samey , every song blended into each other for me on release. A month later it sounded amazing. One of my favorite Drake tapes
Appreciated the effort but thought it was short of what it could have been. I’ve come to like it a lot these past few months though and i’m only truly skipping Down Hill and Ties That Bind. Album is flawed but very enjoyable imo

still my fav album from him
everyones posting albums they didn't like at first but grew to like but what about the opposite? albums you were fw for a while but grew to not like anymore ?
for me i never liked you is a solid example i was reallyyy fw it when it first dropped but i recently revisited it and was only fw like 3 or 4 songs from it
Channel Orange is wack in hindsight
But Endless…to this day I spin
sierra leone, pilot jones, sweet life, monks, pyramids. mane hell nah you done forgot
it’s such a perfect pop album up through humble. and then lust comes in… such a perfectly timed switch and it just builds in tension from there.
duckworth is my favorite album closer of his and a top 5 kendrick track for me. impeccable
damn. is kendrick lamar's greatest album. his greatest songwriting and production, his best overall performance. most immersive concept and subject matter. him at the heights of his powers, right in the middle of his prime.
Initially I didn't like XXX by Danny Brown
Liked his verse on Terrorist Threats so much I decided to go back and listen to it again and it just clicked for me
Didn’t understand it when I was younger.
Once I got my heart broken and I gained some wisdom in my 20s, it clicked.
Late Registration took me awhile to really get into cause of the sudden emotion change from Heard Em Say to Touch The Sky
MOTMII took awhile too til I had a short alcoholic and pill phase and I really started connecting with it more
However TPAB was probably the biggest 180 I made
So many of my favorites
2 major ones are
Madvillainy
The Love Below
Didnt get the hype on these initially but they are favs for me now
DOOM in general took me like 8 years to truly get

Had a thing w MOTM II also but I was literally a kid when it came out and much preferred MOTM I but once i got in my edgy middle school bag I fell in love w MOTM II one of my fav albums til this day

Goblin for me is the biggest one
Used to spin it like crazy Then in 2013 I just started to realize just how bad it truly sounds and how boring it is especially after Wolf dropped
Wild to admit in hindsight but James Blake self titled
My buddy played me Lindisfarne II out of context and I thought it sounded awful, then eventually got curious and listened to the album from the top. Took about 10 seconds into Unluck to realize I was wrong and then when Lindisfarne’s transition came I was fully on board
