The guy who used to have that Kanye podcast "Watching the Throne" thinks Kenny is meant to be sincere.

Interesting counterpoint to some of the takes here

  • That first teaser was sheer ingenuity and aura. They should have kept marketing it like that.

I disagree with him forgot he was watching the throne. I dont think kenny is evil but i do think he isnt sincere. Why would you think that a person who uses their wealth for a massive security company and a place for rich people to for 25 years come laugh at his uncle is sincere? If he can track his daughter with just her phone number you trust he has only used that for good? When a plane was missing he didnt think of doing that for just anyone. He did it for his actor.

Saw this last night. Probably the most rollercoaster of emotion I've had while watching a movie all year. Went back and forth from disliking it to liking it several different times throughout the runtime. Overall, after sleeping on it, I think I enjoyed it a lot and I'm most likely going to see it again.

One of my favorite Cruise roles, a lot of the jokes hit really well, and the scene at the midway point might be an all-timer. The movie is not pretty visually, but I think the cinematography is genius, for reasons that are spoilers. Riz Ahmed I thought was absolutely incredible here as well.

Also, the message of this movie coming right after people were levying a very specific criticism at Primetime is very interesting. The movie has something to say, very loudly, and I like that aspect about it

    I dunno
I felt like Inarratu wanted to make a Don't Look Up film but didn't have the balls to get called cringe for making a Don't Look Up film so he came up with the twist as a security blanket.

I disagree. The twist feels like the inherent purpose of the themes it's trying to get across. I don't think that climate change is the main message like many are saying. The primary message of the film, to me, is a conversation on how we use art to confront and/or cope with real world tragedies. If there's no twist, then that aspect of the film is completely removed.

I took the Kenny Rockwell twist as the rich profiting off our hate for them too, sorta like Elon and Zuck still earning money off users hating them on their own platforms through ad revenue or some billionaire producer having a movie with anti-rich themes

Not sure if there's much more to it

i mean it is literally that with some believing "Kenny Rockwell cant be a bad guy or infamous because people didnt react in shock knowing he secretly produced the play". Also "he helped curtis find his daughter HOPE" when that is literallly the joke. The false hope a billionaire gives through art that they will be different. When they do the same things. . Chris lambert is defending Kenny Rockwell with his life

I like it more because the critics over hating it shows how needed it is. Also at times misunderstanding it.
