thats pretty much been the response from people angry with his comments and what I suspect is the criticism with this movie not taking a side. They all would call this movie substantial if it made heavily pointed remarks towards MAGA and Jan 6th'ers and made them the bad guys, even though that is like the laziest and most repetitive commentary on politics at this point.
I think the execution the film is taking is probably going to be best for its quality as a film but its probably the worst decision to take in terms of box office because it seems the right won't have any reason to be pissed about this movie and the left will just be mad that it didn't s*** on the right and not want to see it. Totally see this movie getting like a 30% RT user score.

But I did read that this is more character study based around the journalist and not action action like the trailer leads you to believe.
And pretty episodic in structure too. Makes me think of Hurt Locker.

Lemme ask do you mean anthology in the sense of 1 chapter (state) at a time. Or something like Magnolia (or Crash) where we see a bit of this state and that state throughout the entire film switching from scene to scene

Lol there was a photographer during Hiroshima. He had to take pictures of people that looked like him turn to shadows. His story matters more than every president soldier and singular victim. Without him do we ever know the true horror
And that appears to be the point
