Lol there was a photographer during Hiroshima. He had to take pictures of people that looked like him turn to shadows. His story matters more than every president soldier and singular victim. Without him do we ever know the true horror
And that appears to be the point
I wasn't trying to diminish the importance of journalist. I'm just saying the lead up to this movie and the title could throw a lot of people off. The movie's promo gave us a map of a divided America and that got people talking...also.. "What type of American are you?"...From the outside it looks like it was intentionally using the current political climate to market the movie. But the movie itself isn't about the political climate.

Yeah his media training off but he clearly ironically tired of media
But sad part is so many want it to “ it’s an election year it’s irresponsible “ nigga America is a mess either way
The "But it's irresponsible" folks come off as ignorant brats tbh
There are places on this planet where people live like this every day yet the Americans are worried that an anti-militarist indie movie would lead to the armed coup or whatever

same sentiment was said for Joker the week of it's release, only resulted in Joaquin wining an Oscar
Imma do a real write up on this one while listening to metro future. Will address everything for those on fence spoiler and non spoiler and if it’s worth theater iMax etc

Joker is a capeshit stuff, it was different.
Like Civil War easily could've been about, let's say, Ukraine. just change a few details. But folks are pissing themselves bc even imagining themselves to be in their position is too much.
honestly by seeing how some Americans handle this stuff, I'd say they deserved this movie lol

BUT WHERE WERE YOU JAN 6TH?!
BUT WHERE WERE YOU JAN 6TH?!

Deserved even more of an introspective punch than they are getting . This a24 first blockbuster
So lame and uninteresting, I knew it was going to be more about journalism and ethics rather than the war itself but man it barely has anything interesting to say about journalism let alone anything else. No substance, no style. Netflix original tier movie with the cynical final evolution of what A24 has always represented — branding. It’s slapped on like a sticker.
Garland saying he wants to retire after this? Lol. Fine by me

Hmmm do you feel the ending at least punches
Hmmm do you feel the ending at least punches
Not really
You already sort of know what’s gonna happen, and it happens, and that’s it
So pretty much everyone who’s fake into politics want it to be “this side is BAD, and this side is GOOD”?
there's a fine line between that and saying literally nothing at all

lol I’m waiting to see but everyone saying it “ says nothing “ I have an odd feeling it’s saying more than some of you think because Men was the same way as was annihilation
Do I wish it was more direct ( not partisan ) just black actors , Muslim , Mexican and all of what each group deals with and gangs , government mixed in ? Yes that’s a dream movie or tv show

Men was ass, and Annihilation is an adaptation of Vandermeer's book. Garland's original s*** has been missing since Ex Machina
It is just crazy to see people who shun documentaries be mad that a24 movie says too little or thinks it’s not just clout chasing or some going as far as “ direct warning from government “
Do you want a scene where she says “ I couldn’t get an abortion “

Ex Machina def still my favorite Garland film. I’ll still give Civil War a watch soon though
